Medical Vacations at Taxpayers' Expense!

Our Supreme Court has decided to put an end to a legal provision that allowed our former so-called VVIPs to bill the State for their medical expenses here at home or abroad. I guess it took our Judges nearly a decade to figure out that handing 'cash back' vouchers to our chor netas for medical care was not a good idea.

According to our media reports, even though such activities were already prohibited back in 2018, many of our chor netas decided to pocket the dough until 2025 because it was a mili-juli sarkar back then. If it was not legal, then how did our chor netas get away with such freebie schemes for almost seven years after it was declared immoral and illegal to ask the State to pay your medical bills? What was the CIAA doing back then?

The mili-juli governments since 2008, had allowed our former VVIPs to get Rs 1.5 million cash back whenever they went to the doctor here or abroad. But in reality, these chors had managed to get rebates up to ten times more. KP Oli, our grand national ukkhan-tukka champion, ranks numero uno in the list with Rs 1.2 crore spent on his foreign medical treatment.

It is not only ironic but also disgusting that successive coalitions of communist and socialist governments failed to do anything for affordable health care for all in this country. Instead, these clowns hopped on a plane and went to India and Singapore to get their medical advice while we footed their bill.

Even our former President Ram Baran Yadav received cash back totaling Rs 6.5 million when he went to the land of the free and the land of 'Red Gutkha' for his medical treatment. He even got the State to pay for his attendants as well.

And we have another former PM Jhallu Nath Khanal, who got more than Rs 5 million for his doctor visit in India in 2021. Jhallu aka the Serpent King also is said to have made some dough with his side hustle dealing with some snake venom and his son had some business ties with the folks contracted to build the Gautam Buddha International Airport as well.

My question is: Why on Earth did our old school netas think that it was okay to take the dough from the Treasury when they already have thousands of shady byaparis and thekedaars on their side? A gold smuggler or a shady contractor could have easily footed the medical bills of our buffoons. But nope, you have to grab our taxpayers' money right?

The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) is investigating these illegal freebies to our chors and hope we get to ask them to pay back the government in the coming days.

And if we really go back to some report by the Finance Ministry, then we will all be shocked to find out that around Rs 4 billion was provided to our so-called netas for their foreign medical treatment between 2006 and 2016. Well, then, King Gyanendra had stepped down as the solo flute player by then. We had an interim government, and then the Constituent Assembly thing.

So, within a decade, thousands of so-called VVIPs made some dough from so-called foreign vacation or sorry, medical care when their main job was to write the 'world's best constitution again' and make the country better for us all.

Every day, we are reading the news about the beginning of the end of VVIP culture in our land. It seems that even the Indian media and so-called experts are questioning their own VVIP culture, which seems to be so wrapped in the traditions of the British Raj till today.

Let us hope that our new government will slowly work towards providing better and affordable health care for all of us in the coming days. Yes, sometimes we do need to go abroad to seek medical advice as well but we do foot our own bill even if it means selling our land and gold or seeking loans from a meter-byazi. We have been played by our old school politicians and their jholeys for the past three decades and more and it's time we ask for our money back!
