Ok so u wanna buy GPS...it all depends on wat kind of GPS u wanna buy. the easiest to use is Garmin and thats wat i am using since last year...no problem up to this time but every month i have to update it online for new street and new stuff like hotels, business, complex etc. DOnt buy the one in which u have to insert map SD card those are crapy one online updating is better .Garmin has all kind of gps even with the inbuilt MP3 player which can hold up to thousand songs and u can uploads pictures but u will need high memory capable SD card. U have two option the flat GPS or the thick one flat looks nice but thicker is ok and the thin is expensive than thick. if u would like to buy better one go for garmin...but before buy do some researc go online and go to different store talk to seller coz this is not the thing u buy today and buy another next month....Good Luck

I am happy with my TomTom ONE GPS. It is low priced but has all the features I need:
- Fast GPS signal
- Clear display
- Turn by turn clear navigation
- User configurations for display, voice, favorite etc.
- Preloaded map of US and Canada
- Tons of other features of expensive GPS (optinal live traffic, weather etc)
Read reviews at amazon.com, I bought from buy.com because it gave the best deal. Avoid Magellan and other unheard brands. Hope it helps.

Garmin-650 in $299.99 (if so!!) and Garmin-350 in $319, a very good deal with excellent feature!! I would buy one of these two!

aba n xyz, as I know, it does. You can view the detail specs. There is clearly mentioned about such features.  "Text-to-Speech — unit prompts you to “Turn right on Main St” instead of “Turn right in 500 feet” "

Magellen's not the best out there if you're in NYC...I'm having some trouble with mine:  Going westbound from the Williamsburg bridge in Downtown Manhattan, it just seems to freeze or doesn't provide the street names/next turns, etc.  The strange part, it works fine on East Bound traffic (??).  Everyone I know who has a Magellen, has faced similar problems in that area.

The one above in the picture by Chicago_Bull, Garmin Nuvi 350, I've been using that since last one year (bought at Walmart for $480, must be cheaper now) and have been to many US cities as well as 3 major cities in Canada and haven't had any problem yet. Tells you street names (text to speech) and not just left or right. I had bought a Magellan first but that just tells you to take a left or right and I had to check the screen everytime to find out which street it meant. I found it very confusing so returned it back and bought the Garmin 350 instead. Can't function without it now.
