There is no denying we cannot live without India on the South. We got almost everything from them but now China has moved in too. Remember we DO NOT get them for free. Keep in mind we pay. They have as much to gain from us, of course we have more, agreed. But there is absolutely no need to hate the Indians for that, as some here has done. Like someone pointed out why not learn the good quality from them than to waste time watching movies, each 3 hours or more, of theirs, millions of them. We (at least my generation) grew up watching few movies a week, some of my buddy watched 2 in a day. That is 6 hours of our time being wasted. Can you imagine if we put those hours to volunteer (a foreign concept in out culture of course) for something like to pick up trash in your neighbourhood, social work at school, library and other charity. Everybody makes mistake like my generations, what we can do is spread the knowledge that is was wrong. Is that wrong?I'm not saying we should boycott Hindi movies, instead put the youth for some productive work. Of course it needs a radical change in our values and culture.

We have always depended on India since the beginning and we payed money for those goods. Does that mean we should eat their garbage?

India is where they are now because of words like "Be Indian and Buy Indian" started by a smart leader. Why not we initiate something like that, not out of disrespect to them. We DO need the rice and the petrol from them to survive, no denying that, but we'll not starve or die if we limit how much our kids get exposed to their garbage (come on, most of them are). Bottom line, no matter what we say, our youth and even adults waste so much of time and energy watching Indian movies. We can prove it with statistics. There is nothing wrong to divert those energy for something else.

My 2 cents.

Bob ...I appreciate your views...but I think watching Indian movies is also helping us to save our country upto a certain extent.....it is helping us to get a little less chaos than it already is...atleast helping to save some of our windows glasses...

Are you asking me how??? Atleast it is keeping some of the kids off the road breaking railing and calling bandhs inside their house...atleast they are watching movies for 6 hours and not wasting their engery breaking other person's windows or buring vehicle...what you say?? Energy??...Didn't you see the scenes of Kathmandu few days back??

Top Ten Reasons not to watch Hindi Movies.

1. They are cheesy and stupid.

2. Most Hindi movies are plagiarized, there is no concept of originality.

3. Not even Hindi speaking people are watching Hindi movies anymore.

4. Hindi movies are made for its audiences that includes porters, coolies, Rickshaw pullers,  all other uneducated Indians and Remainder of Nepali Half brains.

5. There is no reason for a Nepali to admire Hindi movie because it isint even our culture and language.

6. You could have easily learned the another important language of the world which could have benefited you more in your life than stupid Hindi language.

7. They are 3 - 4 hours long and any productive person would not have that kind of free time to watch one.

8. Hindi films is a subject of joke for everyone except for Nepalese who cry along with the movie.

9. Nepali people do not know that Hindi movie is just a cheap form of entertainment. They take it to seriously. Some even take morals from it.

10. And most of all, all India and Hindi language has wanted is to claim Nepal as its bitch, in that attempt they are proving to Nepalese that they cant live without Hindi culture and Hindi language. So by watching Hindi movies you are encouraging plagiarism, you are encouraging art piracy, and most of all you are helping India to claim Nepal as its bitch.

I know all these reasons may hurt your Little Hindi Heart. So i have put a video for you to put a smile in your head. Whenever i have a knack for a Hindi movie i watch this video. It summarizes the every Hindi movie.

Sidster,

You did not answer my question. Were your parents also raised by watching Hindi movies and songs?

If "Yes", your parents are included on your quote No. 4.

Your quote:
4. Hindi movies are made for its audiences that includes porters,
coolies, Rickshaw pullers,  all other uneducated Indians and Remainder
of Nepali Half brains.

Goat,

I do not know what you meant by "Raised".  If you are meaning to ask if my parents saw any Hindi Movies when they were young, then the answer is yes...i am sure they have been exposed to few Hindi movies as hindi movies were/are so much available in Nepal TVs in abundance. But neither my mom nor my pops admired Hindi movies like your parents do. Most of my relatives my age think hindi movies are stupid and waste of time, so do my uncles and aunts, and the younger kids.  They would rather read a book than watch crappy hindi movies. Also Bolloywood use to make far better movies back then than now.

People like you have admired and comercilized Hindi movies so much that there is no market for a quality nepali movie in Nepal anymore. Half brains have made Hindi movies so popular that even when you pop in Nepali channel all you get is hindi.

Goat...here is another great scene from a hindi movie. I hope this cheers you up.

Sidster,

Don't act like you went to law school.."..they have been exposed to few Hindi movies.." They watched Hindi movies because they like it, that was their choice. Nobody forced them to watch it.

Anyway, your answer to Gay Goat's question is "YES". That shows Gay Goat is successful to put your parents on your quote,

4. Hindi movies are made for its audiences that includes porters,
coolies, Rickshaw pullers,  all other uneducated Indians and Remainder
of Nepali Half brains.

I hope your parents know about this.

Raju,

I know what you are saying. I am having a slow day at work today and just wanted to utilize some time by calling ignorant Hindi Lovers, ignorant.

I know there are people in this forum who are getting paid to spread the word of Great Hindi language that represents 1% strong in Nepal. The same sponsors are working on Making Hindi Language an official language of Nepal. The language that Indians have left to go with English has found a new host in Nepal. People like these are directly responsible for voices in 1% represented language in Nepal.

Its time for Nepalese to wake up and quit their dependence on Hindi language.

Sid

Sexy in Sari,

My parents do not like Hindi Movies, and their dislike for Hindi movie has contributed a lot in my belief of Hindi movies. If they had liked it i would have been addicted to it just like you are. They have watched few movies and they do not admire watching Hindi movie as Hindi movie doesn't relate much to them them.

Hindi movies are for people like you who think they look sexy in sari when the truth is they are just " too fat for a sari".

Sid

Don't you think it's a major waste of time as well to get into lengthy arguments for/against Hindi movies?

Hyde,

Well...it is a waste of time to argue against it but its not as much of a waste of time than actually watching a Hindi Movie.

Besides, if sane minded Nepali dont speak against our language and culture encroachment then who will? Any little good thing anyone can do is good.

Sid

Just watching hollywood movies does not make you a better person stoooopid... just take a good look at Rednecks.

Here comes the intellectually constipated Dick Wad again.....i know that a constipated dick wad like you would interpret " choice" as the "choice he likes to make" only.  You idiot...it is my choice to come up with the reasons on why i think Hindi Movies are CRAP and you are right it is your choice to eat the CRAP. My choice is to call CRAP a CRAP.

Bollywood ranks billions of dollars because there are millions of porters, rickshaw pullers, coolies, and half brain Nepalese like yourself who pays RS 100 or more to watch the CRAP. I am not advocating any other movie industry here but yesWatching a Hollywood movies could have made those porters, coolies, and half brain Nepaliese more informed than what they are now.

The rednecks are better off than Hindi Speaking coolies.

Fact: born in KTM, raised in KTM, schooled in KTM, DARJ and eventually PORT and US

Fact: played in a heavy metal band after SLC and listened/Played to nothing but mettalica, GNR, poison, megadeth, black sabbath, tesla, anthrax, Bon Jovi (the early years), cinderella, Def Leppard ( I can go alphabetically A- Z here)

Fact: Hated Bwood movies, but watched them anyway growing up (remember when TVs and Decks were a fashion statement in the mid 80s?). Loved watching TV shows like CI5, Miami Vice, Fawlty Towers, dempsey and makepeace, A-Team, and also Paki serials. Heck , even watched "tada ko basti" on NTV (kaji baa still gives me the creeps). Watched a precious few Hwood and XXX movies from adult industries all over the world---mostly in Makhan and Boudha.

Fact: Loved (and still do) Dal, bhat, tarkari--momos--biryani--dosas---sukuti---sekuwa---naans with khashi ko masu, Ma-Ha jodi, Narayan Gopal,  Madhuri Dixit, Michelle Pfieffer, Sanjay Dutt, Al Pacino, Rob De Niro ( yes Godfather was one of the movies I got to watch back then)

Fact: Hated Dhots and Pakis with passion, dont know why. Stole stuff from the Madhise street peddlers  Still hate the males of those nations more than the females (maybe because I am a male, and maybe Deepika Padukone is just too hot)

Fact: This thread is stupid, and I am even more stupid to be writing a mile long jibberish on this  nonsense...WHILE AT WORK!

Fact: I ordered the hindi cable package when my parents came by for a visit so they would not get bored. Watched shows with them every nite. Was fun.

Fact: I have sponsored many of my fellow brethren who wanted to pursue their dreams and aspirations in a foreign land. I have been a member of many non profit orgs designed directly/indirectly to help the nation I grew up in. I am proud was able to do so.

Fact: I have taken an oath of allegiance to the flag (not the one with the sun and the moon, but the one with 50 stars) and am quite happy with my decision, because I now have a blue passport that I can use with authority anywhere. I have not forgtotten my roots, and they will forever be dear to me- I will do everything I can to improve the lot of the nation my parents still live in and generations before them did.

Fact: I make a pretty good living in a foreign land, have no desire to ever go back except for an occasional visit. I still watch Holly, Jolly, Bolly, Kolly and an occasional movie from the adult variety. I have 4000 songs on my IPOD/IPHONE, and they are in 15 different languages (at least). I listen to whatever I am in the mood for.

Fact: I am who I am , and dont give a shite about what you think. I will eat, watch, listen to, read, befriend, hate, love anything as long as it makes me and mine happy, regardless of what and where it comes from. I will listen to dhoti, khairey, kale forms of entertainment if they have the power to entertain me. I  can do what I want-- I have paid my dues, worked hard and earned every right to decide for myself.. And I know I am not alone.

Peace out.
