Guys, today is Friday. I thought it deserved some lofty thoughts. So I was thinking...what is the greatest thing that a human can aspire to be in life...Here are some positions/roles/icons that people look up to and respect. What are your thoughts? Which of these are worth aspiring to be?
President of the United States?
Prime Minister of Nepal?
Baba Ram Dev?
Sai Baba?
Lady Gaga?
Neil Armstrong?
Jon Stewart?
Rush Limbaugh?
Prachanda?
Golccha?
Bill Gates?

id say be yourself....
there are millions more you could aspire to be..but none of them can be you..
no one can do things exactly likr you, no one can talk exactly like you. no one can love exactly like you.. no one can think exactly the way you think...
there is only one person who can be you.. and thats you myann!!!

Catch_meh if you can,
I agree with you. The only person we can be is ourself. And yet, if we had no aspiration, then we would not have gone to school. We had a goal to move 'forward' and based on this, we made choices. We got 'degrees' that would take us forward.
So I think that we all have a concept of 'backward' and 'forward.'
For example as a nation, Nepal is unique. But we don't just say "it is unique," don't compare it with other nations. We talk about progress. Don't you agree?

i agree with you myann!! 100 % and your reply is a normal reply..even i would reply the way u did...but since u said this theread is philosophy session..im trying to add a different flavor to it.im just philosophising and taking a different approach to your philosphical question..just going a little out of the regular track..please bear it!!
the way we think is how we are designed and conditioned by our civilization to think..... .now step outside...throw away.the conditioning that weve been living with just for a while and think......what is all this for myann??..we all are headed towards the unknown..noone knows whats there..what is after this..i mean there are bigger questions...aspirations is just a whim..just an ego..which we need to let go of...understanding ourselves..and feeling our being should be our aspiration..when this aspirations is met none other worldly aspirations will ever excite us...name fame recognition respect ..they are all different manifestations of ego..aspiring to be another fellow human being is nothing but just an unnoticed jealosy of our conscience....aspirations create rolemodels and someone trying to be the rolemodel is just imitating his rolemodel..in the process the originality is lost..where is this race headed to...nowhere..its a cycle that will repeat for eternity...but the one who aspires to step out of this cycle will eventually understand his being..and his relationship to the existence..and that his existence is just a part of a bigger existence..such should be a human aspiration my friend!!

The gist of my main question is: Is it possible to improve our life?
If you answer 'yes' to the above question. What does it mean to improve our life? We are all unique. We were born unique. We will die unique. But just because we were born and died doesn't mean that our life improved between birth and death. Right?
In the course of living...what does it mean to practically improve our life?

Thank you fat beast.
And this brings me to the original question that I started this thread with:
What is the greatest/best way to improve your life?
Here are some positions/roles/icons that people look up to and respect. What are your thoughts? Which of these people have improved their life the most, do you think? Which of these people are worth respecting the most?
Obama- President of the United States?
Prime Minister of Nepal?
Baba Ram Dev?
Sai Baba?
Lady Gaga?
Neil Armstrong?
Jon Stewart?
Rush Limbaugh?
Prachanda?
Golccha?
Bill Gates?

Babal Khate,
I think there is something in each of those people that can be admired. Whether it is Obama turning a perceived adversity (his race and inexperience) to his advantage or Prachanda, a man from a humble background, shaking up the Nepali establishment and changing it's face, most individuals on that list have done things that have, at some level, inspired others. They've all done plenty too that can be criticized but I guess that's a topic for another conversation.
"What is the greatest/best way to improve your life?"
I don't know if there is an easy answer to that but I think at the end of the day it's about finding your passion and following it. I find passions and priorities change over time because of which there is a need for us to keep exploring, rekindling and reconnecting with our passions and motivations to lead a more fulfilling life.
At least in my case that is true. I am sure others have their own ideas about how to make their lives better.

I think life can be improved by 5 things. rest, work, exercise, food and meditation. And all of these things should be proper-balanced. If all these 5 things are proper and balanced our life will be enriched. Our body will be strong. Our thoughts will be positive. We have good amount of money. we are relaxed. And we are satified.
