I recently visited Nepal after many years and I saw a lot of major changes. Tonnes of houses and cars and fancy motorbikes. I remember back in the 90's a person was considered 'rich' if he had a marble in his house or if they had a nicer motorcycle. Nowadays everyone has a 3-4 story house and a large majority of have a vehicle. I went to Ktm, Pokhara, Butwal and Bharatpur and its the same story everywhere. It seems like there's a new generation of people in Nepal who are quite well to do...sabai ko ghar ko price is in the crores.

I know around the world Nepal is seen as one of the  'poorest' countries in the world. But when I went back after a while, it seemed that we aren't really THAT poor...your thoughts?

 Ha ha.........
I have nothing but laugh about so called "Nepal ko sarkar garib chan janta dhani". Wow, are u nuts? Just because you see some poor people in some countries or some poor college students you think nepalese are rich. Nepal is poor country in terms of monetary wealth. Thats why it's one of the poorest country of the world. Where do u see wealth in Nepal? Just becoz few people can afford some luxury does not mean its wealthy. It's because of 'Sampling Error'. Yes!
But we should not be discouraged by it. We do have a culture of giving importance to education, family and also we are ready to adapt new things so it definately helps us develop faster. As we can see that there are countries richer in monetary wealth but due to poverty in thinking are in worse condition than us.Slowly and steadly, it is being developed. And if all of  us try in our own ways to contribute to our country and not only our country but whole world. This world would definately be a better place to live.
