Hi friends,

I have recently accepted a management level corporate finance position with a F500 company. They have agreed to apply for my h1b next year (April 2013). Do you guys think that there is any chance of a lottery system being used for h1b next year? Do I have reasons to worry if I apply under the Masters quota on the very day that USCIS starts accepting applications?

I also want to initiate the green card process soon after getting my h1b. I know that the EB2 category is not current at present but I read in some law blog that EB2 category will go back to current in the next few months for countries other than india and china. Assuming that EB2 goes current, how long does it normally take to get the green card? Also, will I be obligated to work for the employer who applies for my GC for a certain number of years?

I would really appreciate your insights and suggestions.

Thanks.

If your company has good revenue growth and paid the tax, then it wouldnt be the problem to get H1B.

For the GC the total time is 8-12 months if you didnt get any RFE.

HR 3012 bill is in senate now (grassley senator lifted the hold; google this to learn more)  if that would pass then there will be delay (3-4 years in EB2) to get your GC coz indian china and rest of the world would have same FIFO to get GC.

otherwise, it would be current in October (start of fiscal year).

Thanks for info jhilke jetho. Do you know if there's any way to make a ballpark estimate of when this bill will pass the senate, if at all?
