Here are some of the stocks that showed up on my buy scan. We may have seen the low but it is possible that we see one more sell-off to wash the weak hands. Currently I am doing intraday trades from the long side only. If S&P closes below 800, I'll stay on the sidelines.
If the market goes up from here these stocks should easily double. The holding period is at least 1 year (if profitable). Put these stocks on your watch list and when you see a pattern as described on the follwing link, you can buy. ALWAYS use stop losses. Stops should be somewhere between the low of the cup and low of the handle. This pattern is described in detail in William O Neil's book, "How to make money in stocks". You can probably get it from your local library or buy one...it is worth the money. If you are patient and wait for the right time you should do pretty good at the end.
If you find other stocks that have a similar pattern, please post it here.

I won't have time to post everyday but will try to answer any questions on weekends.
Thanks for all the emails.
Happy Investing.

I am going to be busy till the second week of May, so I won't post much till then. Try to get yourself familiar with those chart patterns and put those stocks on your watch list. This market should be higher next year but it is hard to tell if we see one more decline. S&P at 1000 will bring many sellers out. I'd rather see a decline now than in the future but the market will do what it wants to do. For those of you who used to follow my previous thread, you'll notice that I always emphasized on stops. Basically a stop is a price where we will get out if we are wrong. If you had followed that one principle you should still have money left even if you had bought at the high. Some of the books to read are: How to make money in Stocks.....William O Neal How I made 2M Dollars.....Darvas How I trade for a living........Gary Smith

Here are my picks for the coming week. Buy only once the price gets to the trigger price. DO NOT chase the stock, if it goes above the max buy price----let it go. Take half profit at Target 1. Once you get in move your stops every week. Symbol | Close | High | Trigger | Max Buy Price | Stop | Target 1 | Target 2 | TTES | $13.90 | $14.23 | $14.37 | $14.94 | $8.54 | $20.85 | $27.80 | WNR | $13.20 | $13.62 | $13.76 | $14.30 | $8.17 | $19.80 | $26.40 | STV | $7.99 | $8.00 | $8.08 | $8.40 | $4.80 | $11.99 | $15.98 | DRYS | $6.80 | $7.03 | $7.10 | $7.38 | $4.22 | $10.20 | $13.60 | NKTR | $5.60 | $6.00 | $6.06 | $6.30 | $3.60 | $8.40 | $11.20 | LCAV | $5.30 | $5.30 | $5.35 | $5.57 | $3.18 | $7.95 | $10.60 | PCX | $5.13 | $5.24 | $5.29 | $5.50 | $3.14 | $7.70 | $10.26 |

PCX, LCAV and STV got to the buy price as per the trigger price. Let's monitor those and see how it works. I feel that we are near a short-term top, but too scared to short here. I've entered some bear call spreads.

Eminitrader,
I know you had recommended CHCG last year. What is your take on this one now?
Thank you for sharing your knowledge.

If anyone is following this.....I exited out of LCAV for a profit of 80c per share. Holding PCX and STV for a longer gain. Please take a look at the weekly chart of PCX and STV, those two stocks had the cup with a handle formation. Palu, CHCG is done and please do not touch it. Mohanb, I will not touch financials anytime soon.

Thanks maalpaani, I don't consider myself a genius but I worked for two hedge funds.....one blew up and the other one was very successful so I learned both what to do and what not to do. I will post my picks on the weekends. Get yourself familar with the chart pattern that I mentioned in the first post. I have posted a list of good stocks and when they show up in that pattern you want to buy. Look at weekly charts since we'll are going after a bigger gain. I'm assuming that you already have an account open???

ACAS & ALD I have been watching these two stocks and bought when they were around $1. It was a risk but working in a private equity for a while, I know thing or two about how these company will turn around..Now with MTM rule gone their balance sheet look better now..I know they are still going through their debt covenant negotiation with debt holder but I have seen some private companies who have successfully negotiated their covenants with debt holders..I'm at this point very positive that might happen with these two companies....if that happens these stocks will fly through the roof..their earnings is coming up soon in next week we'll get better idea ..let me know ifanyone else is following these two companies..i have sold 1/2 of holdings but i still own in my 401K and significant amount in my current portfolio along with BAC, C , BCS, YGE & JASO. These are my longs meaning i won't touch them for another year or so..I also day trade FAZ, FAS, BAC, C among others becase of very high volatility ..i'm having good fortunte lately with these stocks.... Nice to see eminitrader back..welcome back..

Also, the reason I have them in my 401K is that they have to pay almost 100% profit as a divindend to get away with paying taxes...normally they were paying good divindend so I think its worth having them in 401K , u know over the years it definetly adds up..but do ur own research ..its just my opinion and I might be wrong...

YGE looks good to me here. Buy range between 7-7.35....stop at 5. BCS is a little over extended but could be good on a pullback. I try not to touch anyting that is less than $5, have been burnt bad in the past, so for the other stocks I'll wait for those to go over $5 and make that cup with a handle formation to get in there. I am not touching financial stocks. If someone ones to buy some financials...XLF is the way to do it at least for now. There are enough stocks of good companies that has been beaten down hard and are good bargains.

Besides C, FNM, F & AIG, I threw couple of hundreds of dollars on AVRNQ, CEMJQ, GWSC, OSCI, SSCCQ cause these stocks were trading for more than 15$ a year ago and now now I could buy for pennies. I have decided not touch for another 1-3 years. Any suggestions?
