Please read...I am saddened to hear this.

Dear Friends and Friends of Nepal,

Arbind Bhattarai moved to Houston about two years ago from Pennsylvania. He is currently pursuing his studies at Houston Community College. He is a 22-year-old young man from Kalanki in Kathmandu, Nepal. Unfortunately for Arbind, his family, and all of us, he has recently been diagnosed with a serious case of Lymphoma Cancer. He is presently hospitalized at MD Anderson Hospital in Houston. Obviously, his treatment will require a lot of money.

Nepalese Association of Houston has set up the ?Help Arbind Fund,? to help defray the cost of his treatment. We are accepting donations to help Arbind?s treatments (chemotherapy, etc.). Your contributions will help save the life of Arbind, one of our own young Nepali students. So please open your hearts to support Arbind at this difficult and trying time.

Kindly forward this e-mail to your friends and relatives.

Please pledge your support by responding to this e-mail and make the check out to ?Nepalese Association of Houston? with ?Help Arbind Fund? in the memo line in the lower left corner of your check. The checks should be mailed to:

Nepalese Association of Houston

6776 Southwest Freeway, Suite 450

Houston, Texas 77074

Nepalese Association of Houston is a non-profit organization ? tax exempt under section 501(c) (3) of the IRS Tax Code. Therefore, your donations are tax deductible.

On behalf of Nepalese Association of Houston, we deeply appreciate your generosity and kindness in helping Arbind. We have successfully created a family atmosphere here, and it is our responsibility to care for our own. We are looking forward to hearing from you soon. Needless to say - time is of essence in this particular case.

Best regards,

Rajendra Shrestha

President, Nepalese Association of Houston

Does anybody know that Arbind is the same guy who completed his SLC from Tarakeswor Secondary School, Kalanki and his father was the principal of that school?
He was close fren of my brother and my brother told me long time ago that Arbind is somewhere in TX.

Maybe people are refining their GRE vocabularies to post something mate!!!

On a serious note, the concerned party should set up an online fund so that it will be easier to use credit cards to transact the money. If people are so lazy to write in this thread, do u think they'll get their butts off and go to the post office and actually post it?

That is sad that hardly anyone comments on this issue.....just like the other guy said, they enjoy commenting much more on photographs of the skanky girls at these nepali parties or talking trash to another faceless entity with a username..It would be nice if sajha could contribute someway to help this fellow's unfortunate situation..

Isn't it better to Rather Just Donate than to Comment...
Remember HELP word rather requires action than words...
Maybe Most of Sajhaites are doing that!!!...:)
Keep this Thread Afloat Buddies...But don't make Fuss about such a serious topic!!!

Deeply saddened to hear the news of Arbind's health condition. And like snurp suggested, can the Nepalese Association of Boston set up an on-line fund for contributors worldwide to make a donation easily?

Please do notify this forum of the action taken or otherwise. I would like to make a donation.

My thoughts are with this young man with so much to look forward to in life and his obviously grief-stricken family back home. May he make an eventual recovery back to full health.

john doe,

Much appreciated. Good luck with what promises to be a huge undertaking but one that's a cause we can ill-afford to ignore.

Many thanks.

The thread mixed with help, pain and fuss - difficult time to the arbin, his family& friends; the step taken by Nepalese Association of Houston (NAH) , everything seems trying to manage a life of a nepali boy and many things coming out during that time. I think nepalese in us have done many generous help here and abroad, specially in Nepal. I have no idea how the donation program is being carried out but I see a lot of potential doner here in US. I wish him all the best, hope he will recover soon and from the best way I will help him from my side. Also I request all sajha friends, specially from US to help him from their side with their full effort.

I have a suggestion. Why not the nepalese assoication in Houston contact other Nepalese associations and make them involve in this fund collection (if the association had not done so already). Just a thought.

I hope for the soon recovery.

peace out

John Doe and all,
The link does not seem to be working this end (UK). I might perhaps send a cheque to the address given in the original post.

Advice pse.

Dear all,

Please be generous on this selfless act of saving someone's life. Remember, avoiding a night out and not spending money over a chick can make it happen. Please, be united and stand against this cruelty.

May god be with Arbind and his family. I hope my little donation can amount to something along with everyone else's.
