This picture must be very old. Any idea when was this picture taken?
Seeing the cloth people in the picture wearing, this must be more than 50years old. But electric wire, pole and lamp post suggests it could have been taken a-bit later. Whatever the age of this picture is, the look of Ason Chok from this angle has not changed yet. Only it looks more wrecked now (see pic below)

Ganapati. I don't think the picture you are talking about is that old. I just tried to watch everything closely and looking at the motorbike there we can figure out something. The bike looks like is of new model. Especially when you see the tail of it, it is plastic part. In the early days these parts use to be of iron only. Look at the looking glass also, in early days bikes had round type of looking glass. So i guess this photo should not be more that 15 years old.

The first picture was taken when the hippies first started to show up in Nepal...

It was taken by a Danish gentleman. He was one of those who followed hippie trail all the way from denmark to afganistan to pakistan , india and then to their final destination NEPAL.........It was probably lates 60s i believe or the early 70s.

It seems ASON used to be as busy a place in those days as it is today. The buildings have remained the same.. only that people have changed the way they dress up.. Nice to see the two photos..
