Just wanted to start a thread where we can just talk about movies, old and new, so that we know which movie to trash, which movie to see in a theater or wait till DVD or cable time.
I will start with my crappy review on the last movie I watched. Comments are welcome by anyone who has watched or want to watch this movie.
10,000 BC All I can say about this movie is that it is strictly okay!! The story drags a lot and there are goofs in a lot of sequences. Also, the movie does not have breathtaking action nor does it have good acting. However though, what saves this movie from bring utter crap is a cheesy storyline which keeps you pretty interested and hooked on to your seats. The cinematography of the landscapes and the final pyramid scenes are awe inspiring. The special effects are extravagantly well done. Camilla Belle, who previously played the tomboyish role in the movie Chumscubber looks like a PREHISTORIC GODDESS this time around but does not have much acting to do. The show stealer is Steven Strait who played the role of the protagonist D'leh and did full justice to what was required of him and the screen time he enjoyed. Overall, an Okay movie but below par for the prehistoric genre.

hollywood is full of crappy movies these days. i would rather go bowling and chill than watch them in theaters, seriously! 10,000 BC has a miserable 20/100 rating and vantage point, 9/100 (critiques and popular ratings both). college road trip seems like something worthwhile to watch this year although am not too sure. all movies look good in teasers/trailers. Indiana Jones ? May be, but I don't quite like the genre. i watched there will be blood last weekend. i cursed myself for having missed this one from last year. loved it equally as no country for old men although didn't quite like the christanity part in the former..thought it was a tad bit too dramatic but a good movie overall. oh and Daniel Day-Lewis, what a performer! same goes to Javier Bardem, thoroughly deserved the best supporting actor award. sorry sahayog, my update is too stale but that's all i can contribute for now

Thats aiiite Loote bro..thanks for contributing..yeah 10000BC was not what it was meant to be and I must say the producers completely fooled the audience...I am not looking forward to College Road Trip because I havent heard good things about it anywhere..and BTW I have heard a lot about No Country for Old Men but haven't watched it fearing it to be the usual Oscar winnning movie that makes you doze off.!! Is it really that good??!!

sahayog bro! i think College Road Trip has a pretty noble plot with father being over possessive about his daughter. I haven't read about it but the promo looks good. i won't be surprised though if it turns out to be another disappointment like most of these good looking movies have. haha... about No Country for Old Men, i watched it before Oscar took place. i was basically interested in the psychopathic killer character played by Javier. He is the soul of this movie and his character very well portrays the lunacy of violence that exists in our society. it is quite spellbinding and it sends chill in the spine leaving us viewers in shock and terror at many places. Tommy Lee Jones has performed superbly as well. some of the sequences have been shot beautifully. i admit that at few places (don't want to spoil by revealing where exactly) the movie loses its pace and momentum and i felt the ending could have been better. but all in all, a nice movie if you enjoy psycho-thriller genre. btw, 1408 of kevin spacey is good enough (worth a watch), if not better than most of the recent movies in horror genre. :D....couldn't watch The Assassination of Jessee James. despite high interest beforehand, i managed to doze off halfway through it

natyavaruval, i heard Sherlyn Chopra is the new sex bomb in bollywood these days after mallika sherawat? and himesh reshammiya is the name of that musician who composes for B to C grade movies especially of the genre called 'cheap indian eroticism'?

I have watched some of the movies mentioned above.
"No Country for Old Men" was wonderful. If you enjoyed "Fargo" you will enjoy this.
"Once" was awesome to say the least. The songs are terrific.
"Assassination of Jesse James" made me fall asleep. I thought it would be one action packed western given that it is about Jesse James, the famous outlaw. But who knew?
I normally don't enjoy hindi movies. Most of them are just stupid melodrama. But I came across a gem. "Chini Kum" was beautiful in every sense. Superb direction. Extremely witty screenplay. All the actors - Amitabh Bacchan, Tabu, etc. - are at their best. I would say it should've been Oscar contender.

Talking about coming across a "gem", I accidentally watched Mr. and Mrs. Iyer this past weekend. Who would've thought it would be such a gripping movie with amazing background music of ustad Zakir Hussein. Why can't we appreciate movies like this and give these actors a little more credit than the self proclaimed superhit movie ..like "welcome"? :) As for 2007, 4 months 3 weeks and two days, a romanian movie was equally praiseworthy. But, no country for old men, deserved the oscar that it did. It was the best movie all hands down. Lootekukur bro, i'd like to know where did this movie lose its momentum, or did it not fulfill your self fulfilling prophecy ;) like we have when we watch movies ( felt the same about there will be blood). If the movie hadn't ended the way it did and Javier would have been killed or sth, it wouldn't be as thought provoking as it is now. Then it could just be another David Dhawan movie (really bad analogy) not Coen Brothers' movie :). But you got the point didn't you?

hey oys bro! good to 'see' you after a hiatus. well, no country for old men is a brilliant movie no doubt (at least of all the 07 movies i watched and heard of), but i won't say it's a flawless piece (not that all oscar winning movies are flawless though) and that's strictly based on my personal observation/opinion. i haven't read Cormac McCarthy's novel so i don't know how well it's been adapted by Coen brothers but i somehow felt that all other characters in the movie apart from Javier's are shallow with none of them taking the lead from the opposite side. first it's brolin then jones then harrelson and not to mention brolin's and jones' wives who are there just for namesake.... no one gets much scope and screen time. i felt jones and brolin both performed quite well but there wasn't much opportunity for their characters to display histrionics coz their characterization was pretty lose. i think when the antagonist is as powerful as Javier's character, there ought to be a more powerful character on the opposite side, either in brolin or Jones. it feels like the movie is entirely based on Javier and his psychotic behaviorism.. HAHA..and no, i wasn't expecting anything of David Dhawan's kinda stupid ending...i felt that the plot didn't deserve a more than 2 hours reel. the second half (more towards the end )is superfluous and they could have easily done away with few sequences especially once brolin (moss) gets killed...(sorry for the spoiler sahayog and other folks who haven't watched it yet) btw, i have heard good things about mr. and mrs. iyer. i would definitely put it in my list. :D Riten bro! i too liked cheeni kum. the other day i watched taare zameen par. it was fantastic (by bollywood standard)...and chak de india was also pretty good.

There were a lot of movies that sucked lately, i m still wonderin how hollywood came to this stage after so much.......Of the movies that i watched and would suggest noone to watch are:
1) The Mist : F**k spielberg for taking ma $8 away.....
2) I am Legend : I would rather see u die Smith, than see u as a legend and have to bear with films like these. :P
3) Jumper: I like the actor but not the acting or anything as a matter of clearance.
4) The Eye: Jessica Alba, i would really love to watch you lie in my bed, but please stop acting.
5) Blond and Blonder : I havent watched that movie yet and i can tell you not to watch this movie :P
6) Semi Pro : Though i really like Will Ferrell, he went off a cliff rather than just dancing on the edge.
The good movies later.... and some more bad .. aile m off work..so GTG

There were rare movies that were worth my time... Some of them are :
1) 1408: Though not as thrilling as expected, still better than a lot of the rest.
2) P.S. I Love You: Same thing, not the greatest of all but still can give an OK. But the end takes the whole movie down the drain :P
3) Fool's Gold : Mathew and Kate falls under one of the most suited couple onscreen and this movie is enticingly hilarious with a pinch of romance.
4) 300: Though not one of the brand new films, a really good one.
5) Charlie Bartlett: A decent rating i must say.
6) Juno: Definitely a must see movie.
7) Step Up 2: I loveeee the dance moves, but the whole story is just shaky. But worth watching, just coz of the dancing.
8) Jodha Akbar: An elastic movie, stretched a lot, but with a lot of care to details.
9) Taare Zameen Par: Its an Amir Khan movie!! Those of you who love Indian movies, you will love this. Different story but its Bollywood, full of sentimets and a lovely song "Maa"
Some more later.....

I do not know why most people found 1408 enthralling. I watched it with great expectations after the lavish reviews that it garnered but I feel the movie was totally flat and it hardly provided serious thrills. John Cusack's acting is to be appreciated though!!
1408 - 2/5
In the other hand, in the thriller/horror genre I must say that I loved the movie The Texas ChainSaw Massacre, the 2003 version. It thrilled me to bits and Lee Ermey is one of the scariest villains that I have witnessed.
The Texas ChainSaw Massacre - 3.5/5

Saw this Bollywood Movie called RACE at Hollywood Theatres yesterday. For a late night show of 11:30, I must say the theatre was pretty packed ..lets say about 80% full and out of that maybe 20% were fellow Nepali's.
This flick was just another Hollwood wannabe with lots of style but little substance. The movie was not a total disaster but one expected more from a director duo (AbbasMustan) who has in the past produced great ones like Baazigar, Gupt and even Ajnabee to name a few. The twists are way too many in this movie but none of them are enthralling enuff and moreover they are at most times expected. The director(s) concentrated way too much on the twists but left the story behind. After the interval, all that the story does is drag amidst a lot of goofs that even a 6th grader would have no troubles pointing out. For instance, How the heck could SaifAli Khan's car manage to drift at damn high speeds without either of his brakes working? Well!! anyway Saif is the only one who acts pretty well. Akshay Khanna and Katrina Kaif is at their very worst. Anil Kapoor and Sameera were refreshing at first but got damnn irritating with time. The two things that did go well with the movie were its songs and sexy Bipasha Basu. But those are hardly reasons one would go to watch a movie in a theater for.
RACE - 1/5

the thread is actually for movies that you have seen and would like put your views on it.
There are millions of sites where you can copy any informations about movies and paste in sajha,
copy and paste is very easy. However giving your own first hand view is what the thread is looking for.
And dont post too much of those indian craps
All your post that i notice are just a bunch of copy and paste craps, unnecessary garbage occupying the space.
BTW WHEN DID U LEARN TO DO THIS 'COPY AND PASTE'

.The Man From Earth: The best movie of 2007. Hands Down. I cannot divulge any storyline about this movie, because once I tell you one word, you will know the entire story of the movie. So, I don't want to spoil your movie-going experience. This is a movie that one should watch if interested in philosophy. Once: It has the best soundtrack of the year. All the songs are great. Good movie. Movies like "Once" is why I like European cinema more than Hollywood. Interview: In my personal list, this movie ranks #3 in the Best of 2007 list. Sienna Miller (from Britain) has an awesome American accent.
