Here are some of the stocks that showed up on my buy scan. We may have seen the low but it is possible that we see one more sell-off to wash the weak hands. Currently I am doing intraday trades  from the long side only. If S&P closes below 800, I'll stay on the sidelines.

If the market goes up from here these stocks should easily double. The holding period is at least 1 year (if profitable). Put these stocks on your watch list and when you see a pattern as described on the follwing link, you can buy. ALWAYS use stop losses. Stops should be somewhere between the low of the cup and low of the handle. This pattern is described in detail in William O Neil's book, "How to make money in stocks". You can probably get it from your local library or buy one...it is worth the money. If you are patient and wait for the right time you should do pretty good at the end.

If you find other stocks that have a similar pattern, please post it here.

I won't have time to post everyday but will try to answer any questions on weekends.

Thanks for all the emails.

Dear sajha pals,

I am really impressed with the knowledge and suggestions posted by some of the sajha users. I am completely new about buying/selling stock . I really want to invest some money on buying stocks so that I could make some money. However, I don't know even the basic knowledge and concept about buying and selling stocks. Can a F1 student buy/sell stocks?

Can somebody tell me, how to buy and sell stock? How to make decision to buy the right stock to get profit? How to get more information about stock business? I would appreciate for your words.

Update on my positions and a new trade I might initiate this week.

FAS. I sold FAS on Friday at 10.69. Had bought it at 10.30. I didn't like the volatility and seeing it reach 11 and drop to 10.60, I wanted to get out of the trade.

REXX. Still holding on REXX. 7.60 turned out to be a major resistance and today was not good for REXX. I expect a bounce from the current 6.70 level.

New trade this week:
I was going over through emini's old stock picks this weekend and GFI caught my attention.
I put the daily chart of GFI below. You can see nicely how it has been bouncing around in that channel. As I had anticipated, today it found good support at the lower edge of the channel and I expect this stock to go hit the top edge of the channel in a few weeks. My target is 14.50.

Peace,
FF.

Although GFI showed up on my scan last week, I'm not a big fan of gold stocks. Gold stocks depend a lot on the way the dollar moves and I find it hard to predict currencies and their movements. If the dollar strengthens here we could see gold and oil go down. I wrote about it on my blog few days ago.

950 in SP cash and 960 in futures is going to be major resistance but I think we'll take that soon. I'm still holding SMSI and daytrading futures from the long side only.

Duku,

I like AZO but I think the easy money has been made so I'll stay away from those.

Thanks Riten for FSYS made quick $100 on that. bought for $24.43 and sold today for 25.47.

Glad to hear that Duku.  I am still holding on to FSYS.  It has gone up 32.68% since I bought it few weeks ago.  I guess I will sell some of it when it reaches the 40% gain mark.  FSYS does have very strong long term viability.

Couple of other top earners in my portfolio are AAPL and JCI.

I am thinking of speculating on SLM.  Heard Cramer talk about that stock highly, so I did some research.  He might be right.

Any thoughts on OMEX, REXX and SQNM.

Also, what is up with C....it's been dangling on the same spot for so long...will wash it off once it hits my break even point.

Happy weekend all....

I still like REXX but I am not a crazy about the other three. I'll like to see a weekly close above 950 in S&P....where we are right now is very dangerous. 880 is a huge support. I do not have any positions and I suggested last week to decrease holdings especially if someone is buying on margin. I'll start buying more once we get to 880 or above 950. currently it's just intraday trading for me.

I saw few other posts here asking about the recent losses that people have incurred. One thing to remember is that the market never goes up or down in a straight line. There are going to be corrections on the way. If you pick good stocks and time it right, you should be doing good. I had mentioned on my blog that 960 was going to be a major resistance and 880 be the support. I had told people to take some profits as we were approaching 960. Now we are close to support and it is good time to put some money here. Identify the stocks that you want to buy, identify their support and buy near support. If it closes below the support, get out and take your loss.

ATPG, PRGN and SUNH are my picks for the coming week. If you are buying C or AIG, you are gambling and not trading/investing.

Mech,

Nice calls on AKS and CTRP. Do you mind telling us what made you pick those? I can see that both of those were at the support.....but was there something else you were looking at?
