The following report and pledge was received to Nepal Democracy Forum (google group) from one of it's member and a respected journalist in Kathmandu. My blood is boiling with the report of the massacre of pro-democracy demonstrators by the regime. I also feel a guilt as I have seen in the images of the protests comprising mostly youngsters from low and lower-middle class. The rich class (except for the professional groups) are still in their baithak watching TV. Let's open a "Sajha Fund for Loktantra-fighters" to help the victims of the regime's violence. "Nepal Democracy Forum" has already discussed about it and I am sure they will immediately proceed. Most probably, a fund will be set up at NAC or other umbrella organizations. We can contribute to that fund. But how about a Sajha fund ? Nepe > Dear all, > > Police and Armed Police Force have fired indiscriminately at the > protestors at Gangabu. Hundreds of people are injured. According to > unconfirmed reports over a dozen people have lost life. Most of these > people are poor and cannot afford treatment. I request all of you to > contribute some money for their treatment. Please, please help the poor > who are sacrificing their lives for democracy and freedom for all of us. > > Expecting to hear from all of you, soon. ____

I watched the news on ktv; now if it keeps on going like this, it's obviously gonna be tsunami. It even shows police arresting tourists. But the ktv really needs to improve the quality of video on web if they want to encourage people to view it.

Guys, let's not be too much circumspective at this juncture. There is no question that those innocent injured people need desperate help. While transparency is of utmost importance, immediate rescue is the order of the day. When all donors and the donation amount are made public, there is a slim chance of leakage. Even if 50% of our donation reaches the victim, it can make a difference at the moment. Let's try to be positive and not be doubtful everytime.

Bhanincha, Nepali bhyaguta haru iinaar bata niskana sakdainan. That is because everytime one bhyaguta tries to jump out, there are other bhyagutas ever ready to pull its legs down. Similarly, here we have folks who, with good intentions, dedicating their time and effort to collect funds so that our unlucky fellow citizens can get the necessary medical attention. For what it's worth, they are committed to be totally transparent in their transactions. Now, for God's sake guys, let's give them the benefit of the doubt and encourage them - NOT pull their legs - on their seemingly (for now) noble effort to help folks in dire need back home. I am sure Poonte will publish the details once that is available - hopefully, by end of this week. I, for one, am ready to contribute. -sgy

It is important that you donate and try to find if the donation has been actually utilized rather than being apprehensive and watch all people being hurt. Your amount might be insginificant but that will add to a fund that can be a substantial. So, don't put yourself down. Be little bit soft when people are dying. Will you?

No offence, it is good to colllect money for victims. it would be good to see the names and address of contact numbers of these people involved. Nepal is a small place, and i think one way or the other we will find if these are genuine people. but, if you guys say this is a war and we cannot keep accounts in war. Then, from people like me you get moral support. Thats it.
