Just wanted to start a thread where we can just talk about movies, old and new, so that we know which movie to trash, which movie to see in a theater or wait till DVD or cable time.

I will start with my crappy review on the last movie I watched. Comments are welcome by anyone who has watched or want to watch this movie.

10,000 BC
All I can say about this movie is that it is strictly okay!! The story drags a lot and there are goofs in a lot of sequences. Also, the movie does not have breathtaking action nor does it have good acting. However though, what saves this movie from bring utter crap is a cheesy storyline which keeps you pretty interested and hooked on to your seats. The cinematography of the landscapes and the final pyramid scenes are awe inspiring. The special effects are extravagantly well done. Camilla Belle, who previously played the tomboyish role in the movie Chumscubber looks like a PREHISTORIC GODDESS this time around but does not have much acting to do. The show stealer is Steven Strait who played the role of the protagonist D'leh and did full justice to what was required of him and the screen time he enjoyed. Overall, an Okay movie but below par for the prehistoric genre.

I consider myself as a movieholic.
I don't listen to music,but i can't live without movies.
Let me put the name of my favorite movies according to its category.
**********************************************************************************
Favorite Western: HIGH NOON.
Gary Cooper is Marshall Will Cane who is too prideful to give up.
Favorite War Movie: Full Metal Jacket.
A sarcastic movie about Vietnam war from the master director Mr.Stanley Kubrick.
Favorite Foreign Movie:Rushomon
Akira Kurasawa was a genius behind the camera. This Japanese movie made in the year 1950 introduced Akira Kurasawa to the western World.Later Kurasawa directed gems like,The seven Samurai,Ikiru,Ran.
Rashomon is about one story told in 4 different perspective.
Favorite Action movie:The Great Escape
One of the all time blockbusters made in the year 1963.This is a movie about POW camps in Hitler's Germany, and we have Steve McQueen playing as Capt.Hilts "The cooler KING"..
Favorite Drama: The ShawShank Redemption
Any one disagrees?
Favorite animation: Sprited Away
Hayao Miyazaki .I like to call him Miyazaki San cause he is one of the best animation directors of all time.Spirited Away is the best movie ever to be directed by Miyazaki San.
Favorite Science Fiction: Its Wonderful Life
People would disagree with me when I call this movie Science Fiction. This appears to be typical Frank Capra and Jimmy Stewart movie, but the concept of the movie is derived from the idea of Chaos theory and butterfly effect.
  ****************My All Time Favorite Movie*******************************
PULP FICTION
NOTHING, NOTHING , NOTHING ..CAN BEAT THIS MOVIE.IT IS A POETRY,STORY,LITERATURE (WHATEVER YOU WANT TO CALL IT) BY THE MASTER DIRECTOR QUENTIN TARANTINO.
I HATE VOILENCE.QUENTIN TARANTINO PREACHES ABOUT NON VIOLENCE BY GLAMORIZING VIOLENCE.
I HAVE SEEN THIS MOVIE MORE THAN 200 TIMES.THIS MOVIE IS JUST LIKE SOMETHING THAT INTOXICATES YOUR DEAD SOUL SAY MORE LIKE A SPIRITUAL ORGASM.
THERE IS THIS LINE IN PULP FICTION WHICH I MEMORIZED..
SOMETHING FROM EZEKIEL 25:17 IN SAMEUL L JACKSON'S VERSION..
"The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he who, in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of the darkness. For he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know I am the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon you."

Wanted: This movie has lots of physics-defying, original-but-disgraceful hollywood stunts that makes you want to puke. It takes the hey-its-jussa-movie kind of ridiculousness to a whole new level. The storyline is pretty weak but adds upto 'interesting' during the middle of the movie, buts ends with 'wtf'! Watch it if you have nothing else to do...or you want to puke.

KungFu Panda: Don't remember the exact occurrences but holloywood movies were becoming quite stale since 2007 (except for few like  'No Country for Old Men'). But KungFu Panda brought back my faith in hollywood. It a movie well-done, whoever did it.

Harold & Kumar escape from G-Bay:  It had been a while since I enjoyed any movie as much as this one. It's ridiculous sometimes, but hey it's just a movie afterall. A must-see movie for all immigrants, americans, red-necks, pot-smokers, koreans, republicans, perverts, jerkoffs, george bushes etc etc.

In Bruges: It's a silly movie about a couple of hitmen. It portrays how some hitman might remorse after killing a kid by accident. Surprisingly, it has quite a few bits in it that are humorous. Not a bad movie.

Dark Knight: One of the best batman movies I watched so far. If I am not mistaken, is NY portrayed as Gotham here? I could be wrong. Late Ledger plays the Joker well, a character "who just wants to watch the world burn down". Interesting how they try to show that Batman and his gadgets are a possibility. All in all a wonderful movie!

Live free of Die Hard: Only because I am a fan of Die Hard Series and Bruce Willis.

Pursuit of Happyness: Pretty good movie. Gives you inspiration and good feelings plenty!

Wilson's War: Quote from the movie - "These things happened. They were glorious and they changed the world... and then we f**kd up the end game." Based on the Cold War and how the US covertly funded the Afghans to beat the Russians and how they abandoned them (Afghans) leaving the city in ruins after the war. A very good movie.

Sweeny Todd: Ok, I didn't know if was a musical when I rented the DVD and when Johnny Depp starts singing, I was like 'Hell no!'. But the demon barber and his pie-making lady keeps your eyes glued to the screen with a cut-throat ending!

I am Legend: I stopped liking the movie after the dog died. Just kidding. Well, I have mixed feelings about this one. Maybe it's hard to imagine NY like it's potrayed in the movie, or maybe it's just plain sad. Animation - excellent, storyline - well...Watch it to find out.

No country for old men: An excellent movie and I think that the Oscar it won was well deserved! Spine-chilling movie of a tussle between a psychopath, an ordinary man, a bag full of money and the law. Simply awesome!

Good ol' movies I can think of: Enemy at the Gates, Snatch, Legend of the Falls, Cold Mountain, Borat, American Pie 1-2, American Beauty, The Usual Suspects, Little Miss Sunshine, ConAir, Silence of the Lambs, U-turn, Shrek, Dead Men Walking, Kungfu Hustle, The Heist, Entrapment, Gladiator, 300, Braveheart, Pulp Fiction,  Before the Dawn, A Walk in the Cloud, Last of the Mohicans, Basic Instinct, 40-yr old virgin, Point Break, A Perfect World,

** This lame review-kinda-post containig mainstream movies is not meant to be taken seriously! **

thanks sahayog for a thorough review.
okay it seems like i am going to spend 10 bucks for the dark knight this weekend. so freakin 'disgusted by the recent saga of frustration at the theater(s) if you ask me otherwise.

mr hyde,
i already watched the 40 year old virgin. Lil naughty comedy but hey it was 50 folds better than You don't mess with Zohan. Hadn't hated the wannabe Borat, Adam Sandler, this much before. Where's the originality? What was he thinking?

all in all, barring one or two occasional classy flicks, suffice it to say, hollywood is giving all sorts of pieces of sh*ts these days. i feel the bond movie (Quantum of Solace) is gonna give some solace though to the dejected viewers come november.

let's see. Till then: this sort of thing isn't my bag baby, yeah!

मैले हेरेको सबैभन्दा पछिल्लो मूभी X-Files: I Want To Believe

i saw one of you mention Once Upon a Time in America (1984). for those who have not seen it and is a fan of crime/gangster/drama genre or a fan of Deniro, i would highly recomend it. but make sure u get the longer version, which is 3 hours plus long. it is directed by Sergio Leone of Good, Bad and Ugly fame. incidentally, Leone has inspired a host of filmmakers including Quentin Tarantino (you might have heard him talk about Sergio Leone close-ups in his commentaries). the film also stars James Woods in probably his best outing as an actor to date. Rating: **** and 1/2 out of *****

M. Night in my opinion only made one truly good movie "The sixth sense"

And the ending in "The village" was honestly good and shocking as the sixth sense. But the body of the film was boring and weak.

The Happening, in my opinion was very boring and very weak movie as well. I understand his idea on what he was trying to show, that the plants and trees were kind of taking revenge on human being for what they had done to the nature by polluting them (Plants and trees) but  the story and the presentation was bit lame.
