What is the difference between Tibet and Gorkhaland. They were both seperate country before and they are not asking for a different country but rather a different state. Well the difference is Tibetens beaten in kathmandu and gorkhaland supporters are beaten in india. It is not question of interfering but it is about what is right and how you think things should be handled. So support for a good cause

Vote for gorkhaland

My personal view: It's not like supporting and helping Prashant Tamang win Indian Idol competition. It's far more serious matter of Indians of Nepalese origins over there and they should resolve their problems themselves. I think we all Nepalese should stay out of these very serious issues of free Tibet or separate Gorkhaland movements because if we expect that India and China not intervene in Nepalese internal issues ; we should not either openly support or campaingn for anything in their issues.

(I wish Indians will not either come forward and support One Autonomous Tarai state - a demand of some Tarai based regional political/armed groups - in Nepal during drafting of our constitution. It's our internal matter and if we people want or need separate states such as Mithila, Bhojpuri, Tharu, etc. states within Tarai belt; Indians should not excite few Tarai based groups to come to the street with strikes to fulfill their demand.)

Before coming to that point let me put forward some relevant cases.

1. Nepal- Madheshi extremist groups fighting for separate state, allegedly supported by India..result we Nepalese are suffering and we curse India for doing that. Though India has never OPENLY said so, but we all know India is a power player here.

2.India- Pakistan giving moral support, shelter to Kashmiri militant groups who they consider freedom fighters. This was at its peak before the peace process begun. Result- India was suffering but pakistan OPENLY supported them to fight for the disputed land. I am not talking about the legitimacy of Kashmir the state here.

3.Colombia- FARC, the longest surviving guerilla group is supporte by Venezuela. Result- Colombia is suffering coz venezuela thinks they are freedom fighters.

4. Ethiopia- muslim fighters there are supported bu majority of Somalis, who are predominantly Muslim.

5.Sudan- they accuse the insurgents supported by Chad.

6.Chad- they accuse same to Sudan.

ONE THING IS COMMON. they are all neighbouring states. they all like to meddle in neighbour's issues. Every country has a minority which is a majority in other neighbouring state and vice versa.

I am too dumb. So all I can do is say-- the choice is ours. What do we wanna be?

What is your point here, Prabhat?

Yes, we know those Indians directly or indirectly supported to Madheshi political groups in the past and they are still giving some support directly or indiectly to Madheshi armed groups, who want seperation from Nepal. This does not mean that we should do tit-for-tat by openly supporting Gorkhaland movement in India, who want just a separate state within India. Because i fear that if we openly support to Gorkhaland, Indians might openly support not just to the one autonomous Tarai demand of Madheshi political parties (which I feel is not fair to all ethnic/language groups such as Yadav, Tharu or Maithili/Bhojpuri/Abadhi, etc. but opens the door for the one separate Nation if India continues supporting them), but but to the free Tarai demand of armed groups operating in Nepal. India is big and powerful, thulo machho le sano machho lai payo bhane khanchha bhanchhan, sano machho le jiskyaunu bhaneko jani jani gayera thulo machho ko mukh ma pasnu ho bhanne lagchha malai.

Again, it's my personal view and you are fee to debate about the best way to go for Nepalese in Gorkhaland movement as well as in Free Tibet movement.

my point is let's stop meddling in other's issues and stop other's from meddling in ours. Before we interfere in Gorkhaland or Tibet let's look within ourselves and see how we can solve our problems. I have tried to put forward some examples coz if we do that it will make us miserable. India is a powerplayer but we are equally responsible for that. Our elected officials from every party need , to be very frank PLEAD their help to cling to the power. I wish they could think of the country first.

well said prabhat. we nepalese have amazing nationalism. we were there to support prashant tamang in kalimpong but we never pay attention when our own peopel were under fire at kapilvastu.

i think we should let people from darjeelinlg decide what they want there and don't let any tibetans protest against chinese  government in nepal. we all know the sensitivity of tibet's issue.

some powerful countires are using us for their own sake and we...........................no matter what tantra is there, still the same.

Neither Gorkhaland nor Tibet.

As far as Tibetans being beaten in Kathmandu, those pricks should stop demonstrating on Nepali soil. If they really want to demonstrate, they should march across the borders into China and do so. These refugees have been taunting the Nepalese police force since March and have been wasting our valuable security forces. When you say" Tibetans being beaten in Kathmandu", it paints the Nepali government as being a jerk which is unfair. If those monks /refugees/nuns do not take to the streets anymore then the Nepali police will stop bothering them as well.

About supporting Gorkhaland or Tibet issue, of course people ought to have conscience but when Nepal government does not command so much influence upon her neighbors, first we as a nation should realize how our actions/feelings might come back to haunt us before we reveal too much of ourselves.

Here is a piece of lyric from a Tina Turner song which could be relevant here.

I`ve been thinking of a new direction
But i have to say
I`ve been thinking about my own protection
It scares me to feel this way

What`s love got to do, got to do with it
What`s love but a sweet old fashioned notion
What`s love got to do, got to do with it
Who needs a heart when a heart can be broken

It is not about being scared if india or china will do if we support. It is about right or wrong.

Since when nepal has become land of cowards.

When did fighting for someone else' country other than one's own become bravery?

Thats what we have always done. Look at history we've always laid our lives for others in someone else's country.

I guess I should have written "When did fighting for someone else' country other than one's own become bravery and patriotism"?
On the other note, I only have respect for the people who have served in the Indian, British etc armies. Those folks are working for the foreign governments in exchange for compensation that their families can improve their lives with whereas fighting for Gorkhaland or Tibet will be simply out of conscience. The Gurkhas are known world over for their loyalty and valor instead of being mere mercenaries.
