Raju said non chalantly. Dhurba couldn't believe that Raju would miss the game of cricket for anything; he shrugged and left Raju alone.
Raju kept staring at the wood carved, artificial bee hive that his dad had kept in his roof top. Raju always liked observing the bees, they never bothered him, but today he was more
focused; something strange was happening.
For starters, the entrance (or exit) to the hive was overly crowded. Few bees were falling off of the hive, possibly due to exhaustion of the crowd. After about 30-35 minutes the crowd increased even more. They Raju observed a passage being made in the hive; something was coming out. Raju didn't know what and he got overly curious. Next thing he saw was a big bee being carried by the rest of the bees. Like a rockstar floating over the crowd in an open concert, the bees-without themselves moving, passed along the fat bee on top of them to the next bee in line. Before you know it, the big bee was thrown off the hive.
Raju gasped, "that must be the queen bee!!" What are they going to do now? I must tell Dad. Raju wanted to run downstairs to call upon his dad, but he just couldn't move not knowing what was going to happen next. He looked around to see if any of this friend is there, no-one. No-one but the bees.
Raju kneeled down, getting closer to the hive, there again was a huge commotion. The bees again seem to part ways to make a small passage through the hive entrance. The next view threw Raju off his feet, he was thrown off guard and almost fell behind. Out of the entrance, Raju saw a small wasp coming out. It was later joined by 2 other small wasps, slightly larger than the bees themselves. They entered the hive and for a while nothing happened. Raju twitched, "I gotta call my dad." He didn't move an inch though. He wanted to know what was going on.
The bees started entering the hive again, in an utter chaos, however. "Are they going to charge against the wasps? Did the wasp kill the queen?" Thousands of thoughts came to his young mind. He expected war, but nothing of that sort happened. The commotion died out and it looked pretty quiet inside the hive. OUtside, only few dead bees scattered in the entrance.
"Why aren't they fighting?" Raju pondered...something hit him all of a sudden. "Oh my God! Did the bees kill the queen together with the wasps?" Raju stood up, this time he was determined to run down. Everything had been happening so fast. He went downstairs and told his Dad about how they the bees threw the queen and wasps overtook the hive. His Dad laughed, "हरे उल्लु! मोटो मौरीलाई बारुला भन्न ठानेछ यो बज्ज्याले| जा पढ्, तेरो होमवोर्क गर्नु छैन?"
Raju didn't answer, instead he ran upstairs.
Raju missed a big action, he noticed more bees piled up outside the hive. One of the wasp was even outside killing the bees, the helpless bees weren't even sure if the wasp was their enemy or friend. They all looked confused, piling over each other, only to be stung by the wasp.
Dhruba came back. "के भो? तिमीहरुलाई खेल्न पुगिसक्यो?" Raju asked quizzically.
"का.....तिनिहरुले चौरनै बन्द गरिदेछ| फेरी नेपाल बन्ध रे| ." Dhruba responded staring at the bee hive.
Downstairs, Raju's dad came out, one hand in his belly and one hand holding his phone. "फेरी नेपाल बन्ध रे? हैन, यिनी हरुकै शासन छ, यिनी हरुकै नेपाल बन्ध? एस्ता नेता हरुलाई चुनेर त साह्रै दु:ख पायौ हामीहरुले|"
Raju just kept staring at the bees.
