It depends on what you want to do. I am not a computer major but I have a MBA degree ( major finance and accounting) . There is a whole lot of opportunities in finance and accounting area in the US. Companies are still hiring recent grads unlike in the IT field. Moreover, there is not that much of outsourcing going on in the finance and accounting area.

With the new Sarbane Oxley rules in the industry , corporations are now hiring more people. I cannot speak for Marketing/ management majors . I think it is very difficult to land up with a job in marketing. Some of my friends are still unemployed. All said and done, good luck to you.

when asked "boxers or briefs?" bob dole responded : Depends!!

brainiac: it depends. some pretty obvious factors i can think of are:
1) your interests
2) the kind of career/career flexibility do you want
3) your current financial situation
4) your desired financial situation

ppl have different answers to the above. i think if you can't get into a top tier b-school, it aint worth the 100K. the same is not necessarily tru of a ms in cs. the disparity in income for ms in cs grads from say the top 50 programs is not that much. however, the mean salary for a wharton mba is around 100K (plus bonus), while i know that a cmu mba was having a tough time getting a job paying 45K last year. of course, the top students at cmu probably nabbed over a 100K, but i am talking about the odds here.

also, an mba gives you more room to switch careers down the road. with a ms in cs, you'll probably start out as a programmer, and eventually move up into project management, or design/architecture stuff. unless you get lucky in a another boom (unlikely at this stage) or eventually become a c-level executive, your salary will not grow much. with an mba, if you get into a finance sector, or a good position in corporate america, you'll be all set financially.

just google for"why do an mba" and you'll probably get a better response. got to go .. gluck

I have decided to go for the MBA with a focus in IT.
I have a b.s. in computer science and biochemistry but I feel I need an advance degree
to move up.
A masters in Computer Science is great, but a MBA looks better in the resume
and it will give me more options in the future.
I am going part-time since my work will pay for it.

Thanks for all the advice.

of course.....MBA is far better than Masters in Information.MBA in health sector management is thriving in job market offered by Duke university. You will definitely get a job before completing second year.Don't go with MBA in accounting coz there are already so many CPAs in market.Umm ...in finance ...although there are 60,000 CFAs, it has good prospect with MIS....

About MBA colleges.....Kellogs,Duke,Dardan,London business school,IIM India,Harvard,Uinversity of Pensalvenia,Jhons Hopkins,Standford,Tuke,kenan flagler,Rice,Yale are.....goood ...why don't u try.......?????????
