In order to initate a website for a non profit organization like ASNE, I don't think we need to have a fancy looking web site, and Drupal or Joomla CMS are more than enough. I would rather download Drupal and Joomla CMS, start working on it. It is so simple that even a caveman can do it (The famous quote from Geico). So, Drupal / Joomla CMS or WordPress Blog Software are real satisfy the simplicity: "EVEN A CAVEMAN DO IT". You can go through the following link that might help you while installing of Drupal CMS: http://drupal.org/node/92485 . You may also want to read the following thread: If target=_blank>http://drupal.org/node/29364?page=1 If you want to see Drupal examples: http://www.htj.com/ or WordPress target=_blank>http://www.president.biz/ WordPress is available as a part of http://www.1and1.com/ 's cheapest beginner's webhosting account, and one of the example is My+sansar.com's website, and you can have a look at my http://www.AuxN.com/ In these websites, I did nothing more than following a few "EVEN A CAVEMAN CAN DO IT" steps. Drupal CMS has addtional modules that you can keep on building as you proceed ahead. You don't have to be a Geek in PHP to do these "EVEN A CAVEMAN CAN DO IT" steps. Only thing you need to do is that when you select a webhosting account at 1and1.com, you must select Linux based webhosting account, don't select MS Frontpage based, because it uses ASP, not PHP as default. PHP is the best addition to html. You will love it. Well, GoDaddy.com also offers similar webhosting, but you may refer to PC World / PC magazine to know the difference between 1and1.com, and GoDaddy.com's webhosting services. I like 1and1.com's webhosting service, it is not only cheaper, but also easier to use, and you can direct almost all your domain names to the same page as if you are running different websites. With one account at 1and1.com, I have Pokhara.com / htj.com, AuxN.com, Geomech.com, geoeng.org and some more: president.biz . All have different contents.

If you are seriously working on Nepali Engineers in USA or on International Society of Nepali Engineers, then I can offer you one of my domain: e-s.net for free of charge for your use upto 5 years in trial, and if I find it good, then I can extend at the end of the first 5 years, it can go upto another 5 years, i.e. 2016: the expiry date of the domain: e-s.net. If you want to buy, you can go to http://www.sedo.com/ domain auction website, and send me an offer. I paid about 500 USD. It is not that expensive because it has high value / premium e and s characters . I recently sold: y-0.com in 1000 USD at TDNAM.com. You might want to read: http://www.geotech.net/?q=node/84

I went to the link and clicked, and I find no contact person. Should not you mention at least a name of a real contact person? That is very interesting to me. Well, I know who belongs to the domain name because you can find it by checking the whois look up, but I want the website to declare a contact person's name and contact address. Anyway good luck to you for success. Personally, I would have appreciated if you have made this website public upon consultation with a group of people. The website does not mention anything like that. I wonder how far you will reach to turn your society / association into a real workable one. It is because there is another association already under discussion. What are your credentials so that I can decide join your organization? What makes you unique to sell your association? to its possible members? I have already asked some questions in another thread, you may want to see it and answer these questions to make me or like me feel comfortable with your organization? Why should I join your proposed association? What can I do extra, that I could not do without your organization? If you have reliable and convincing answer to this question, I am sure your organization will get success. These answers will be OK, but what resources will you have to run this organization? Membership? Are you sure the membership fee will be enough? Nope. Advertisement? Who will sponsor advertizing banner to you in this competitive market? Nepal Engineers Association with 6 thousand or more members failed to have sustainable website, and it is dead now. Therefore, it is easier to initiate a new organization, but it is very hard to keep running. Are you prepared for that? What is the total number of nepali engineers in USA, and out of that how many will really be interested in joining your organization? I think if it is just a discussion forum like Sajha.com, it might be a good idea, but turning it to a real world organization is not an easy job in this busy world. An example of a great discussion forum that is without any exe.com member, but working well is http://www.GeoForum.com/ . You know what, this website is working because its pioneers are 4 world's former great professors in Geotech. They are very knowlegable professionals, and their credentials are excellent. Another good one that is running here in US with Nepali topics is the one run by Dr. Alok Bohara of New Mexico University: Nepal Democratice ..... Because of his dedicated Nepali students and his personal links (he made in his 20 years of teaching), he was able to make it a sustainable forum. So, your credential also matters. Your website does not show a single real person's name, and without it, no one top rated professionals would like to join. These are my suggestions. Don't take it negatively. Consider answering these questions for your own sake, and you don't have to answer here, but think how will answer these questions. For me ASCE is enough. I am a full member, and I have to pay 225+- USD, and I am a member NEA, NGS, IGS, ISSMGE, .....'s member. I already spend more than 300 USD in membership, and why should I pay membership to any other society?

Dear Gp, You have raised so many relevant issues regarding the establishment of ASNEngr. Let us answer you your some of the questions in short: 1. Failure of NEA is due to political activities. 2. Benefits/Resources of SNEngr-we have to work out together to seek the best possible benefits for its members. 3. Why ASNEngr- ASNEngr is political free, non-profit organization. Its sole objective will be to build the engineering bridge between Nepal and USA. If there is another association under discussion, we will go together. We are not here for fight. 4. ASNEngr is becoming strong from the grassroot. We have already 131 professionals in our database. We are working out to search out the best measure to collect the data for all the Nepalese Engineers. To tell you true no one except US government can give the exact no. of engineering professionals living in USA. ByLaws of ASNEngr was prepared by Prof. Ramesh Malla, who is very renowned profession in US. 5. Contact: write emails to info@asnengr.org or call at 864-517-4661 Attn to concerned people below: we can release the personal emails in this public discussion board.
