My dad consistently has elevated cholesterol levels and high blood pressure. Currently, his blood pressure measures 137/109 as of today. Although he abstains from alcohol, he tends to consume sugary foods and a substantial amount of rice and ghee. Additionally, he doesn't engage in regular exercise. It's important not to underestimate this situation. Is it considered normal? How can we seek advice to help him adopt healthier habits?

Any tips please

consuming moderate alcohol and lifting weight is 10X better than being teetotaler but never hitting gym/exercise . alcohol damages liver which has tendency to regenerate . but once you have blood pressure and sugar (mostly due to lack of exercise ) it damages all vital organs and ultimately you die with expensive bills behind .

if your father is on constant /109 range, he defiantly is on medication . with such medical conditions, if he is not motivated in exercise , changes are he is in depression . the #1 cause of lack of motivation in anything is depression. have him checked . .

IF your Dad is in 30s, and his BP is that range daily 137/109, then it is a worrisome situation.

If he is in upper 60s, then I consider that is normal, since my dad is in the same range in the morning time, and in the afternoon, it lowers to 125/90, and back to 140/105 range, and no medicine yet. His heart beat is 92, and kidney functions very well and super healthy. He had a gout attack 6 years ago, that is it. I haven't seen after that.
No exercise, Cholesterol little high, and HE eats more vegetables, and only chicken, NO RED MEATS. No juice, but eats fruits.

My mom complains that he watches nonsense on internet that is why his BP goes up, well, that part is I don't know and don't want to know.

Summer time , he swims with grand children, sometimes cut grass, And help me to wash car. That how I make him busy.

You can bring horse to the pond but you can not make him drink. Your father is conditioned to his life style and he would not adopt new habit specially that comes from family who are younger than him.
