Maths teacher has drawn following equation on the board:
____ + ____ = ____
The teacher then asked students to put two digits on each line to make a valid equation. But they can use digits 1 to 6, each once and only once.

How can it be done? I got one answer, lets see if more than one is possible!!!

Hint:Please avoid Brute Force!!!

4^1 + 2^ 5 = 36

Is this valid, Thyanboche?

Saajha Dude -

4^1 + 2^ 5 = 36
=> 4^1 + 2^5 = 6^2

The teacher asked - "But they can use digits 1 to 6, each once and only once".

Count your '2'.

All the Best!!!

hmm...OK, Try this:

1^4 + 35 = 6^2

Are you gonna say 1^4 = 1X1X1X1 and hence 1 occured 4 times? ;)

Saajha-
Your equation includes 35 and not 3,5. We can use only 1-6!!!!

Question:Are you gonna say 1^4 = 1X1X1X1 and hence 1 occured 4 times?
Answer:1^4 is treated as 1,4 exactly once.

U r applying brute force.

Here it goes:
1^3+4*2 = 6+5
11=11

if you are asking for 1 thru 6 how can you put root symbols and square root.
you should have mentioned this in the begining.

dummy question.
"to put two digits on each line " that means you can only put two digits not other words and symbols.

.tregor
it shoud be (3^1)+(4*2) = (6+5)
or (3*1)+(4*2) = (6+5)

other solution
(4/2) + (6*1) = (5+3)
(5+2)+(-6/3) = (4+1)
(5+2)+(6-3) = (4*1)
(5+3)+(-6+2) =(4*1)
(6+5)+(-3*2) = (4+1)
(3*2)+(4+1) = (6+5)
(3*2)+(-4-1)=(6-5)

and it goes on

Tregor, Parbatya and Prakashji
All are correct!

'BUT' I appreciate 1x2 + 3x6 = 4x5 (Parbatya) answer. The reason behind there's a uniformity in his solution. The operation he uses is very readable.

'Again' it's upto you!!!

Another example could be -
(5/6) + (1/2) = (4/3)
LHS = {(5+3)/6}
=8/6
=4/3
Thus RHS!!!

Thanks for brainstroming and your commendable effort!!!

_______

There are 9 blank spaces. The upper one (X) is multiply and the lower one (+) is addition. You Need to fill the blanks with the number 1 to 9 without repeating.
Note: "without repeating"

Hint final answer is 9 3

Good luck
