नेपालको विशिष्ट मौलिक इतिहासको जगमा उभिएको नेपाल सम्बतलाइ राष्ट्रीय सम्बतको मान्यता दिनु पर्ने आव्हान गर्दै अभियान सञ्चालन गरेको पुग नपुग २७ बर्ष भए छ । शुरुवातमा नेपाल सम्बतको नाउँ लिने बित्तिकै सार्वजनिक अपराध गरेको आरोपमा जेलमा पुग्ने स्थिति पनि बन्यो । बदख्वाइँ गर्न चाहने जत्थाले नेपाल सम्बतलाइ साम्प्रदायिक सम्बत, कुनै एक जातिको मात्र सम्बत, किंवदन्तिमा आधारीत सम्बत जस्ता अनेक फत्तुर आरोप लगाए । तर त्यसता छुद्र आरोपहरुले नेपालसम्बतको गरीमा घटेन र यो अभियान पनि सेलाएन । समयक्रममा नेपाल सम्बतका प्रणेता शंखधर साख्वा:लाइ राष्ट्रीय विभुतिको मान्यता दिएर सरकारले नेपालसम्बत प्रति सम्मान जनायो । हालै  मन्त्रिपरिषदको बैठकबाट नेपाल सरकारले नेपाल सम्वतलाई राष्ट्रिय सम्वतको मान्यता दिएको छ। यसलाइ ब्यबहारमा लागू गर्न एउटा उच्चस्तरीय कार्यदल पनि गठन गरेको छ । यो निर्णय संभवत माओबादी नेतृत्त्वमा गठीत संयुक्त सरकारको अत्यन्त सकारात्मक र जनभावना मुखरीत गर्ने निर्णय हो । बिगत लामो समय देखि नेपाल सम्बतको पक्षमा आफुलाइ उभ्याउँदै आएको हुँदा म यो निर्णयको स्वागत गर्छु ।

मैले आफ्नो लेखाइको सुरुवात म जातभात मान्दिन भन्ने कुरो उठाएर गरेको थिए तर कुरो कस्तो उल्टो भयो भने मैले नेपाल सम्बतलाई सिधै जातसँग लगेर जोड्न खोजिएको जस्तो बुझियो जुन मेरो लेखाइको आशय होइन। मेरो लेखाइमै केही त्रुटी भएर हो कि? हुनत आफ्नो जातिय पहिचान सबैलाई प्यारो हुन्छ र हुन पनि पर्छ, आफ्नो परिवार, आफ्नो समाज, आफ्नो भाषा र त्यो भन्दा अझ माथि गएर आफ्नो देशप्रतिको लगाव, यो सब चाहिन्छ। एउटा नेवारले म नेवार हुँ भनेर, एउटा बाहुनले म बाहुन हुँ भनेर र एउटा मगरले म मगर हुँ भनेर भन्न पाउनु पर्छ। हामीलाई नचाहिएको कुरा भनेको जतियतामाथीको बिभेद मात्र हो। नत्र भने त हामीसबैले हामी नेपाली भनेर आफ्नो जातिय पहिचान कसरी बनाउन सक्छौ? चना दाईले यो थ्रेड सुरु गरेपछी धेरै साथीहरुको धेरै थरी बिचारहरु ब्यक्त भईरहेका छन्। कती बिचारहरु विश्लेशणपूर्ण पनि छन् भने कती चाँही आबेसपूर्ण छन्। चना दाईले भने जस्तै सम्बत समयकै मापो हो, तर अहिले नेपाल सम्बतको अवस्था भनेको पूर्ण रुपमा अथवा दैनिक समयको मापन गर्ने भन्दा हाम्रो चाडपर्ब र साँस्कृतिसँग बढी सम्बन्धित भईरहेको नै हो। त्यसकारण अहिलेनै यसलाई साँस्कृतिसँग अलग गरिदिने हो भने यस्को अस्तित्वनै खतरामा पर्न सक्छ। साथै म दाईको नेपालमा रहेको सबै चाडपर्ब यही सम्बतमा आधारीत छन् भन्ने कुरामा असहमत छु, हाम्रा सबै चाडपर्ब lunisolar क्यालेन्डरमा आधारित छन् र यो सम्बत पनि lunisolar क्यालेन्डरकै एउटा रुप हो। हाम्रा कतिपय चाडपर्बको प्रचलन यो सम्बत सुरु हुनु भन्दा धेरै अघिदेखी नै थियो।
 
मैले नेताहरुलाई त्यतिक्कै गाली गरेको छैन चना दाजु, वास्तवमा तिनिहरुले हामीलाई मुर्खै बनाउछन्। कुनै सोचबिचर कुनै योजना बिना नै भनी दिन्छन ल अब यो गर्ने, त्यो गर्ने। गिरिजा बाबुले भन्दिए ल अब नेपाल सम्बत्लाई सरकारी कामकाजमा प्रयोग गर्ने, तर कसरी गर्ने? के गर्ने? केही थाहा छैन, खाली प्रयोग गर्ने; अहिले फेरी हाम्रा माओवादी सरकारले भन्दियो यसलाई कामकाजमा ल्याउने। हाम्रो नेताहरुलाई कुनै कुरा सार्वजनिक रुपमा बोल्नु भन्दा अगाडि त्यस्को बारेमा गम्भिर सोच, खोज र बिचार  गर्नु जरुरी लाग्दैन। किनभने उनिहरु आफुले बोलेको कुरामा कहिले पनि जवाफदेही हुन पर्दैन, बोल्नको लागि पैसा पर्दैन जे बोल्दिए पनि हुन्छ। खासमा हामीसँग कुनै कुराको योजना हुँदैन, मुखले भन्यो त्यती भए पुग्यो। चना दाई हजुरले नेपाल सम्बतलाई सरकारले राष्ट्रिय सम्बत बनाएको र यसलाई कामकाजको लागि प्रयोगमा ल्याउने घोषणा गरेकोमा खुसी मनाउन मलाई यो कसरी व्यबहारमा लागु गरिन्छ भन्ने स्पष्टिकरण दीइरहनु पर्दैन र यस आन्दोलनमा लग्ने धेरैको एउटा प्रयास सफल भएकोमा खुशी मनाउन कसैले पनि रोक्न सक्दैन, तर यो घोषणा गर्ने सरकारले भने अबस्य पनि यस्को स्पस्टिकरण दिनु पर्छ। ठीक छ एकक्षणलाई यो सर्बसाधारणको चासोको बिषय नहुन सक्छ, तर यो घोषणा गर्नु भन्दा अगाडि यस्लाई व्याबहारिक रुपमै लागु गर्न के कस्तो सुधार गर्नु पर्छ या अहिले चली रहेको बिक्रम सम्बतलाई कसरी बिस्थापित गर्ने भन्ने बिषयमा सरकारले कतिजना बिशेषज्ञहरुसँग परामर्स गर्‍यो र नगरेको भए कहिले गराउछ? खाली जुलुस र र्‍यली गर्दैमा नेपाल सम्बत लागु हुँदैन। यस्को लागि गम्भिर गृहकार्य आबश्यक छ। के नेपाल सम्बतको प्रयोग राहुलदाईले भन्नु भए जस्तै व्याबहारिक रुपमै सम्भब छ त? होइन यसमा सुधार गर्नु पर्छ भने के कस्तो सुधार गर्नु पर्ने हो? यि सबै कुराहरुमा काम गर्नु पर्ने हुन्छ, खाली मुखले बोलेर केही हुनेवाला छैन।
 
नेपाल सम्बतलाई ब्यबहारिक रुपमा प्रयोग गर्न मुलत: दुइ वटा समस्या छन। पहिलो यो lunisolar क्यालेन्डर मा आधारीत छ। lunisolar क्यालेन्डरको हरेक बर्ष solar क्यालेन्डरको बर्ष भन्दा ११ दिनले कम हुन्छ र यो कमिलाई प्रत्येक साँढे दुई बर्षमा अधिक मास वा क्षय मासको ब्यबस्थाद्वारा समायोजन गरिन्छ। तर यस्तो असमान दिन सङ्ख्या भएको क्यालेन्डर समयको मापोको लागिनै प्रयोग गर्नु वास्तवमै अबैज्ञानीक हुन्छ। अब यो समस्यालाई कसरी सलटाउने भन्ने कुरा सरकारका निर्णयकर्ताहरु र जानिफकारहरुले सुझाउनु पर्छ। हुनत चना दाईको चेतावनी छ, राम्रोसँग नबुझी नलेख्न, तर पनि मेरो सानो दिमागले बुझेको सानो कुरा यदी नेपाल सम्बतलाई single cycle क्यालेन्डर बाट double cycle क्यालेन्डर बनाउन सकियो भने शायद यो समस्याको समाधान हुन्छ कि? double cycle बनायो भने तिथी, चाड पर्ब सब lunisolar क्यालेन्डर को हिसाबले गनणा हुन्छ भने बर्षको हिसाब चाँही solar क्यालेन्डरबाट हुन्छ। शायद यसो गरियो भने यो ISO क्यालेन्डरसँग compatible हुन्छ होला। अर्को जटिल्ता भनेको बिक्रम सम्बत, इस्वी सम्बत र नेपाल सम्बत बिचको रुपान्तरन नै हो। झट्ट हेर्दा यो समस्या कुनै ठुलो समस्या होइन जस्तो लाग्छ तर यस्ले धेरैको नागरिकता, पासपोर्ट र प्रमाणपत्रहरुमा समस्या ल्याउने निश्चित छ। त्यसकारण नेपाल सरकारले यो सम्बत लागु गर्नु भन्दा पहिले यो रुपान्तरनको समस्या हटाउन जनशक्ती र साधनको ब्यबस्था गर्नु पर्ने आबस्यक छ। मैले भन्न खोजेको यदी नेपाल सम्बत लागु गर्न यती धेरै समस्या आउछ भने हामीले  संसारमै चलेको ISO क्यालेन्डर नै किन प्रयोग नगरने? 
       
नेपाल सम्बतको जगेर्ना गर्ने काममा निश्चित रुपमानै नेवार समुदायको भूमिका बढी देखिएको छ। तर यसो भन्दैमा नेपाल सम्बत नेवारहरुको मात्रै हो भन्नु भनेको नेपाली भाषालाई बाहुन क्षत्रिको भाषा भन्नु जस्तै हो, तेस्तै गरी नेपाल सम्बत राजाले लागु गरेकी प्रजाले भन्ने कुराले पनि खासै ठुलो फरक पार्दैन। नेपाल सम्बतको प्रचलन नेपालमै सुरु भएको हो र यस्लाई एउटा नेपालीले नै प्रयोगमा ल्याएका हुन जस्लाई हामीले राष्ट्रिय बिभूतिको रुपमा मान्छौ। यदी नेपाल सम्बतलाई व्याबहारिकरुपमै प्रयोग गर्न सकिन्छ भने हामीले बिक्रम सम्बतलाई नै बोकेर बस्नु पर्छ भन्ने केही छैन र यदी यो व्याबहारिक रुपमा सफल हुन सक्दैन भने यस्लाई जबर्दस्ती लागु गर्नु पर्ने आबस्यक्ता पनि केही छैन। Directx जि, हाम्रो सौर्यमण्डलमा भएका सारा ग्रह उपग्रह देखी आकाशगंगामा भएका तारामण्डल हाम्रो लागि उत्तिकै महत्वपूर्ण छन। यस्मा यो ठुलो र सानो भन्ने हुन्न। lunisolar क्यालेन्डर जस्तै solar क्यालेन्डर पनि उत्तिकै महत्वपूर्ण छ भन्ने कुरा म पनि मान्छु। सुर्य सिद्दान्तमा दियीएका बिधीहरुमा अहिले हामीले प्रयोग गर्ने त्रिकोणमितीय ज्यामितिको आधारहरु छन र यस्लाई साह्रैनै प्रभाबशाली सिद्दान्तको रुपमा मानिन्छ। 
 
तिका जि, म हिन्दी भाषाको जनिफकार त होइन तर हिन्दी भाषा पनि सम्पूर्ण भारतभरि रहेका मानिसहरुको मात्री भाषा हो जस्तो लाग्दैन। यो भाषा पनि उत्तर प्रदेश, दिल्ली र आसपासमा बस्ने बसिन्दाहरुले उर्दुबाट पारीमर्जित गरी प्रयोगमा ल्याएको जस्तो लाग्छ र अर्को कुरा कुनै जमनामा भारतलाई हिन्दूस्थान पनि भन्ने गरिन्थ्यो र यो भाषाको नामाकरण धेरै हद सम्म हिन्द शब्दसँग सम्बन्धित छ जस्तो लाग्छ। नेपालमा बोलिने सबै जातजातीको भाषा गैरनेपाली होइन । तर नेपाली भाषा भनेर बुझ्दा अहिले चलिरहेको नेपाली भाषालाईनै बुझिन्छ र तपाईंले माध्यम भाषाको रुपमा सबै भाषाहरुलाई प्रयोग गर्न पनि सक्नुहुन्न। माध्यम भाषा एउटै हुनु पर्छ। तर अरु भाषाहरुलाई पनि फस्टाउन मद्घत गर्ने, चलनचल्तिमा ल्याउने र जगेर्ना गर्ने काम गर्न पहलकदमी  सरकारले लिनु पर्छ। नेपाली भाषालाई माध्यम भाषाको रुपमा प्रयोग गर्न धेरै नेपालीहरुलाई आपत्ति हुन्छ भने बरु अङ्रेजी नै गरौ न। किन यो हिन्दिलाई हाम्रो माध्यम भाषाको रुपमा प्रयोग गर्नु पर्ने? नेपाली भाषा बोल्नेहरुसँग रिस फेर्न हिन्दी बोल्नु भनेको सौताको रिसले पोइको काखमा मुत्नु भनेको जस्तै हो।

खस भाषा नेपाली भाषा है लेकिन नेपाली भाषा खस भाषा नहि है । आप स्पष्ट कहिएगा कि आप नेपाली भाषाको माध्यम भाषा कहेना चाहते हो या खस भाषा को ? अगर आप खस भाषा को माध्यम भाष कहेना चाहते है तो, चलो वह भि ठीक है, हम सापोर्ट कर देँगे । लेकिन खस भाषाको जवरजस्त नेपाली भाषा क्युँ कहेना चाहँगे आप ? देखो आप लिखते है - नेपाली भाषा भनेर बुझ्दा अहिले चलिरहेको नेपाली भाषा लाईनै बुझिन्छ - यह गलत है । नेपालमे राणा, शाह, पञ्चायत और बाहुनबादका ओकालत करनेवाले लोग ने मिलकर खस भाषाको नेपाली भाषा  बोलदिया, लेकिन आप जैसे आदमि भि इसको अहिले चलिरहेको नेपाली भाषा क्युँ कहेते है ? क्या हम हमारा थरुहट प्रदेशमै हमारा थरुइ भाषाको भि अहिले चलिरहेको नेपाली भाषा  कहेसकते है ? यह यूग राणा, शाह, पञ्चायत और बाहुनबाद ने किया गलतियोँको परित्याग करने कि यूग है । चलो खस भाषा को खस भाषा बोलो और सम्पूर्ण नेपाली भाषाको नेपाली भाषा बोलो । नेपाली भाषा मै खसका एकाधिकारको तोडो ।

आपको शायद मालुम नहि है, लेकिन मै बता दुँ आपको - खस भाषाको नेपाली भाषा कहेने से पहेले गोर्खाभाषा था उसका नाम । क्युँ कि वह समय गोर्खा एक बलवान राज्य बनचुका था । खस लोगोँ ने उसिके फायदा उठाकर खस भाषाको गोर्खा भाषा बनादिया । आप दार्जिलिङसे देहरादुन तक जो भि खस भाषा बोलाजाता है, वहाँ नेपाली भाषा नहि गोर्खा भाषा मानाजाता है । धरणिधर कोइराला और पारीजातको आप नेपाली साहित्यकार मानते है, उधर वह गोर्खाली साहित्यकार बनबैठा है । वहिँ से प्रभावित होकर खसभाषाको पहेला पत्रिका कि नाम हि गोर्खापत्र रखदिया, बाद मै उसमे संशोधन करके गोरखापत्र बनादिया ।

गोर्खा राज्य शक्तिशाली होने से पहेले पर्वत राज्य शक्तिशाली था । उस समय खस भाषाको पर्वते भाषा का नाम दिया गया । जब पर्वत कमजोर होने लगा और गोर्खा शक्तिशाली बनगया उन्होने पर्वते भाषासे नाम चेञ्ज कर्के गोर्खा भाषा बनादिया । काठमाण्डु विजय करने के बाद शाह राजाओं गोरखाको परित्याग करके देशका नाम हि नेपाल रखदिया । वह वास्तवमे अजीवसा निर्णय था । इसका वरोवर ऐसा होगा कि अम्रिका ने इराक पर विजय पानेके बाद अम्रिकाका नाम हि इराक रखना जैसा । पृथ्विनारायणको शायद नेपाल सभ्यता और गरीमा के वरोवर गोरखा कि गरीमा ना होने से लघुताभाष था । बादमेँ भि खस भाषाको नेपालमे गोर्खा भाषा हि मानाजाता था । मदनपुरस्कार पुस्तकालय जाकर अध्ययन किजिए आपको मालुम पडजायेगा । लेकिन १९९० के दशक के बाद खस भाषाको धिरे धिरे से नेपाली भाषा कहेना शुरु होगया । पञ्चायत काल मै महेन्द्र राजा ने खसभाषा के विकास के लिए बहुत सहयोग किया । खस साहित्यकार लक्ष्मिप्रसाद, लेखनाथ आचार्य, बालकृष्ण सम जैसा लोगोंका बडेबडे पुरस्कार देना, और महाकवि, कविशिरोमणि जैसा विभिन्न पदसे सम्मान कर्ना और रेडियो और पत्रिकामेँ ब्यापक प्रचार कर्ना यह सव एकसाथ करदिया गया । पञ्चायत ने हि खस भाषाकि पहिचान नेपाली भाषा बनाया और पञ्चायति शिक्षाके माध्यमसे ढेरसारे जनताओकि दिमागसे खस शव्द हि मिटानेका कोशीस कियागया । मतलव यह है कि नाम परिवर्तनका सिलसिला ऐसा रहा
खस भाषा = पर्वते भाषा - जव पर्वतका शक्ति हावि था ।
खस भाषा = गोर्खा भाषा - जव गोर्खाका शक्ति हाविथा ।
खस भाषा = नेपाली भाषा - जव नेपालका शक्ति हावि था ।

भाषाओका नाम वारवार परिवर्तन हो नहि सकता, लेकिन शक्ति और प्रभावकि पिछे भागते भागते ऐसा करके खस भाषा ने वेश्या के चरीत्र दिखाया है । इतिहास मै हमारा थरुहट राज्य था, बाद मे नहि रहा, उधर मिथिलाञ्चल था, वह भि नहि रहा, अवधका साम्राज्य था, वह भि नहि रहा, हमारा इलाका मै इतिहासमै राज्य और सिमाना परिवर्तन बहुत बार हुआ है, लेकिन हमारा भाषाका नाम परिवर्तन कभि नहि हुआ है ।

मुझे तो लगता है, अगर नेपालका सिमाना कुछ भि तरह से भारतके अन्दर जायेगा तो यह खस भाषा के नाम फिर से परिवर्तन होकर भारती भाषा हो जायेगा । अर्थात
खस भाषा = भारती भाषा - जव भारतका शक्ति हावि होगा ।

अगर आप यह होने से रोकना चाहेँगे तो आपके पास बहुत सारी जिम्मेदारियाँ है । उसमै से पहेला जिम्मेदारी यहि है कि आप खस भाषा को खस भाषा हि बोलिए, जबर्जस्ति खस भाषा = नेपाली भाषा मत कहिएगा ।

नेपालसम्बतको पक्षमा तर्क गर्दा म त्यसलाइ सर्वगुण सम्पन्न भन्ने पक्षमा छैन । कम्प्यूटरको यूगमा बसेका हामीले हज्जारौ वर्ष अगाडी चराको प्वाँख वा निगालोको ठुटोलाइ कलम बनाएर लेखापढी गर्नुपर्ने जमानामा बनाएको सम्बतका पछाडि के कस्ता अध्ययनहरु भए, कसकसले बौद्धिक योगदान गरे, आदि केहि थाहा पाउन सकेका छैनौ । हामीले अचेल भन्ने गरेका सोलार, ल्युनिसोलार वा ल्युनार भन्ने अवधारणालाइ हेर्ने दृष्टिकोण नै पनि फरक थियो होला त्यो बेला, किन भने त्यो बेलाको खगोलशास्त्रले पृथ्वीलाइ ब्रम्हाण्डको केन्द्रमा राखेर विश्लेषण गर्थ्यो । शुरुआतमा समयचक्रलाइ मापन गर्ने एउटा इम्पिरिकल मेथड पत्ता लगाइ त्यसलाइ क्यालेण्डर सिस्टम बनाइ लागू गरेको एउटा पक्ष भयो, जसमा समाजका महत्वपूर्ण घटनाक्रम तथा चाडपर्वहरु कहिले कहिले पर्नआउँछ भन्नलाइ सजिलो बनाइदियो । यस्तो क्यालेण्डर सिस्टम अथवा समयको गणना गर्ने सिस्टम सभ्यताको विकास देखि नै शुरु भएको हुनु पर्छ, जुन आजको ११२९ बर्षभन्दा धेरै पुरानो इतिहास बोकेर बसेको छ ।

११२९ बर्ष अगाडि नेपाल सम्बत शुरु हुँदा यसले एउटा कारणलाइ अगाडि सार्यो । यो कारण भनेको सम्पूर्ण नेपालबासी जनताहरुको आर्थिक स्वतन्त्रता तथा ऋणमुक्तिसित सम्बन्धित छ । तात्कालीन समयका प्रतापि राजा मानदेवको नामबाट प्रचलित सम्बतलाइ प्रतिस्थापन गर्दै शुरु भएको यो सम्बतले एउटा ठूलो क्रान्ति सम्पन्न भएको संकेत दिन्छ । साथसाथै त्यसअगाडि समाजमा विद्यमान कतिपय कुराहरु पनि समेटेको हुनु पर्छ भन्ने मेरो अनुमान छ । नत्र नयाँ सम्वतलाइ कतैबाट टपक्क टिपेर थपक्क लागु गर्न सकिदै सकिन्न । अन्य सम्बतको हकमा पनि यो कुरा लागू हुन्छ ।

अनुसन्धानको क्रममा के कुरा थाहा लागेको छ भने माथि no_quiero जु ले उल्लेख गर्नु भएको नेपाल सम्बतका महिनाहरुको नाम जुन छ, त्यसको अस्तित्व नेपालमा आजभन्दा करीव २५०० वर्ष अगाडि नै रहेछ । यससम्बन्धमा त्रिविमा एउटा शोधपत्र पनि प्रकाशित छ । नेपाल सम्बतमा प्रयोग भएको क्यालेण्डर सिस्टमको अस्तित्त्व नेपालमा २५०० वर्ष अगाडि नै रहेको देखा पर्नुले यो सम्वत शुरु हुनु धेरै अगाडि देखि नै हाम्रो देशमा मौलिक क्यालेण्डर सिस्टम थियो भन्ने जनाउँछ । यी जानकारीको निचोड के हो भने नेपाल सम्बतको विकासक्रम, महिनाहरुको नामाकरण र यसमा प्रयोग भएको विशिष्ट शब्दावलिले यसको उत्पति पनि नेपालमै भएको हुनु पर्छ भन्ने आधार दह्रो भएको छ ।

नेपाल सम्बतलाइ ब्यवहारमा ल्याउन समस्या भनेर तपाइले देखाउनु भएको २ बुँदा जो छ, त्यसमा मेरो सहमति छैन । बिक्रम सम्बत ३६५ दिनमा परिवर्तन हुन्छ, इश्वि सम्बत पनि, तर सौर्यचक्र ३६५ दिनमा घुम्ने होइन के रे । चार चार बर्षमा ३६६ दिनलाइ एक वर्ष मानेर इश्वी सम्बतले ऋतुचक्र सित समायोजन गर्न अहिलेसम्म सकेकै देखिन्छ । नेपाल सम्बतले तीन तीन बर्षमा अधिकमास थपेर सोर्यचक्र तथा ऋतुचक्र दुबैलाइ अहिलेसम्म समायोजन गर्न सकेकै देखिन्छ । नेपाल सम्बतमा देखिने प्रमुख समस्या भनेको टुट हुन जाने तिथिहरु हुन । नेपाल सम्बतको तिथिगणनामा शकसम्बतका पण्डितहरुको प्रभाव अधिक हुन गइ यो समस्या बल्झेको हो भन्ने मेरो मत छ । शक सम्बतमा तिथिहरु प्राय टुट हुँदैन, बरु छोटो या लामो हुन्छ, जसले गर्दा एकैदिनमा बिहान एउटा तिथि, दिउँसो अर्को तिथि हुन पनि सक्छ ।  एकै दिन दुइवटा तिथि पर्न आउँदा कहिलेकाहि बिहान गाइतिहार दिउँसो गोरुतिहार मान्नु पर्ने अवस्था पनि आउन सक्छ । यस्तो भएको अवस्थामा नेपाल सम्बतले कम महत्वपूर्ण एउटा तिथिलाइ टूट मान्ने, वा अगाडि पछाडि सार्ने तर महत्वपूर्ण तिथिलाइ पूर्ण दिन नै मान्ने चलन थियो । यस्तो समस्याहरु अध्ययन गरी समाधानका उपाय पेश गर्ने काम सरकारद्वारा गठीत आयोगले गर्ला भन्ने आशा छ । अथवा तपाइको सुझाव पनि काम लाग्न सक्छ ।

घोषणा गर्नु अगाडि बिशेष अनुसन्धान भएर निर्क्यौल भएको भए राम्रो हुनेथियो भन्ने भावनामा मेरो विमति छैन, तर नेपालमा धेरैजसो कुराहरु उल्टो हुने रहेछ । चुनावको दिन घोषणा भएपछि मात्रै कस्तो नियम बनाउने, कस्तो कार्यक्रम तय गर्ने भन्ने तैयारी शुरु हुन्छ नेपालमा । पहिला घोषणा गर्ने अनि बल्ल अध्ययन गर्ने अनौठो परम्परा नेपालमा नजीर बनेको छ । यस्तो नभएको भए राम्रो । तर यस्तै तरीकाले नै भएको भए पनि राम्रो घोषणा भयो भने त्यसको स्वागत गर्न किन कञ्जुस्याँइ गर्ने ? हैन त ?

tika bro, let me take u back to the history, this nepali language which we generally speak is as u said developed by khas jati, and it is particularly their language.... but, the main point is, at those days may be u had ur language i.e. tharu or hindi whatever, and other people had their own languages according to their community and religion. but why didn't other languages developed and spoken as national language ?? its simply because, the majority of people in nepal spoke nepali language at that time and other people followed it, there was no any force for them to use nepali language, but instead of supporting their own language they started speaking in nepali language.. that means larger community gets more priority, its not because of people in power forced others to use nepali language...

and as u mentioned parbate language was later called gurkha language during gurkhs rule, but do u still know the fact that the language spoken in gurkha was different then nepali ??? gurkha is typically gurung society and they spoke gurung language at that time, so u better don't link nepali.... if u still know the fact of nepal then there are more than 40 types of rai in nepal and all of them have their separate languge according to the cast and community..

now let me tell u how nepali language was developed........ at the time of gautam buddha, pali language was famously used all over asia, so, u find lots of scripts written in pali from those period.... there were small kingdom and community in nepal who had their own language, but to communicate with each other (communities), they used pali language and later on as per the ascent and native language different improvised versions of pali came to existance.... and the saha dynasty who came from far farsi land improvised the same pali language mixing some words and pronounciation from farsi language.... after nepal was unified the language was given the name called nepali, which is improvised version of pali.... there are still lots of improvised version of pali language in the world, and they improvised that language according to their community.... u can hear tibetan, jonkha, etc, they are improvised from pali.

As u were stucked in khas jatis, yes they were the most educated persons in nepal, majority according to the population too, but still khas jatis in east nepal and khas jati in west nepal they had different languages, if u didn't know.... and till now, deuda language is most famous in western nepal.... and let me tell u about khas jatis... they were educated and they used to go india, specially banaras to study sanskrit.... and before hindu territory uttar prades was famous place among muslims from west, who migrated there... their language was urdu and now what language u usually use hindi is also an improvised from urdu language.... the people from banaras started a script called devanagari, which was derived from sanskrit scripts, and those nepali people studying there used that script as form of written language... after coming back to nepal, they started writing each and every thing in that script and mixed pali + sanskrit words.... they taught most of other peoples to read those scripts, which eventually became famous..... every people who learned that script started writing about their feellings and many other things, etc etc.. this how people started learning things, and in modern era, people started writing stories, peoms, essays, letters using devanagari script in nepali language.... if u still read those articles written at earlier stage of devanagari script, then u may not understand it, cause it was different improvised version of pali + sanskrit language, because they contain lots of pali and sanskrit words... but in later stage the writings were given a new form by formation of grammar, vowels and verbs which instructed writers to follow some rules and criterias, and so new nepali language was created... with perfect grammar and word formation.... and there were several articles written in nepali language that all other communities have to follow it, not by force, because nepali language was famous and was subject of interest for them, because of great peoms and stories, etc, etc...

I know what is in ur mind now, u might be thinking nepali language was improvised from sanskrit, yes u r right my friend, pali language is improvised from sanskrit and nepali was improvised from pali + sanskrit.....

and let me tell u one more fact, at that era nepali language was used specially in eastern language and till now u can see most of the nepali articles are written by mid and eastern nepali people, and people from west nepal were bound to follow the language because of the popularity of language at that time, some of them followed indian language and they have deuda language, which contains lots of hindi words, but still it sounds different then hindi or nepali.... and maximum of people followed nepali language and devanagari script because most of the articles written by nepali people was in nepali language and devanagari script, so, it was compulsory taught in schools.. and laxmi parsad devkota was our education minister at that period who made this rule and strictly instructed all the schools in nepal to teach this language..... may be he made compulsion for people like u to learn this language, but just imagine what will ur condition be if u have not learned to read and write.... angutha chhap.... so, he made this rule to educate the people which was practically successfull....

our nepali language has soooo long history and it have struggled through different periods and finally formed  a good means of communication between nepali people, now, u r saying it is just khas language.... where the f.u.c.k. ur tharu language and other languages were at those periods of struggle?? if ur community had such big concern at that time then they would have come with different language and different script to write, and how many articles, peoms, essays or stories u have read in ur language??? I guess it can be counted in finger.... so, at this period, after all the structure is formed u cannot say nepali language is just khas language, it is and was used by even ur community and all other peoples in nepal..... now u have come up with ur new idea of hindi language to communicate with nepali people then u r making fool of yourself.... nepali language may have beed generated and developed by khas, but it was practically used by all the communities as a means of communication in nepal.... so, it was named national language of nepal.... there are several other national languages of nepal like newari, maithili, etc. but the majority of people use nepali.... so, please come up with good idea then to murmur what u read in wikipedia.... I know u searched in wikipedia for nepali language which described nepali language as khas parbate and gurkha and later nepali, but wikipedia is not right all the time, it might be updated by peoples like u full of passimistic ego... i know we can't see our a.s.s but we don't have to ask someone if we have hole on our a.s.s.... so, don't dig ur dignity just know ur identity, if u r nepali and u stay inside territory of nepal, and if u can read, write, speak and understand nepali, then better use nepali... be proud of what u r then to hook a pin in ur identity.....

I think we are putting together many unrelated issues.

Nepal Sambat is Lunar calendar designed for cultural/Dharmic events like Dasain, Tihar, Buddha Jayanti etc.

Bikram Sambat is Solar calendar designed for seasonal events like planting, travel etc.

They are not competing and we need both. We all Nepalese should be proud of both Sambats and use them. Worst thing we can do it make it a communal issue. Also let us also note that Bikram Sambat is more antique than Grgorian calendar gloifying our past. It will be really funny if we criticise Bikram Sambat as foreign (across the border) and adopt Gregorian calendar. On the other hand the Nepal Sambat initiated by Shakhwal of Kathmandu is not about some great King but about an ordinary Nepali making a huge contribution to the nation. Even though the myth may be only half truth, yet let us recognize the power of its symbolism.

However, the new adopted Gregorian calendar is Solar and competes with Bikram Sambat. Thus we need to conserve Bikram Sambat along with the use of Gregorian to come in par with International system.

The Solar calendar needs adjusting time to time. For example, Gregorian caledar uses leap year etc. to do that. Bikram Sambat also uses such corrections but is not well done. Therefore the issue of dropping one whole month to make a proper adjustment has been raised. However, it can be done better. First, there must be a good home work for such adjustment. Second, it need to be advertised at least one year before applying. Third, it is not necessary to drop a whole month. It can be done by merely lessening the days in each of the 12 months. For example, if each of the 12 months have only 28 days then we will loose almost one month, without dropping Chaita month and going berserk.

All over the word, rulers come with their own lunatic ideas, for those lunatic ideas we have the most wonderful things. That was a mistake?? Or an Excessive use of power? Both.

That happened to Nepal too and implemented B.S. calendar. Power is exercised; it became part of our life after a long use. I agree on some commentator that if Nepal sambat is scientifically better than B.S. we must undo it; otherwise we need to move on. As most of us have a question is this the major issue for Nepal at this moment in the "to do list”, then we must solve it? Or just to distract Nepali from major issues?????  Or just to divide and RULE theory of Maoist.

As the unification ended the ruler wanted a language to be communicated and chose the one the ruler spoke and named it Nepali. I think it has similar issue as introducing myself as Hindu, there was no Hindu religion.  So what should I say in my religious belief????
