Just finished "GURU OF LOVE", one of the most unrealistic novels Ive ever read, especially Goma's character.

It took whole 8 months to complete it, but Samrat's style of writing is terrific.

I am reading Da Vinci Code just because everyone seems to have finished reading it. Someone recommend a good book to read. No Sidney Sheldon or Harry Potter type please.

well Sophie's world..by Jostein Gaarder(just googled to find the author wahahaha..)..well thats the only book i do remember right now..not a avid reader...:o)...just read when i have time and hehee..hope i do hope i get time to re read that book again one day...other than that..Harry potter i say ;oP...well ...u said no.but sorry...hehe thats one seriies i need to know the end...so kinda am waiting for that book i gues..:o)...

After arresting god in ktm, Samrat seems to be carried away...His need for entertaining the western audience seems to far outweigh depciting the real truth. and WHY NOT? Anything that exploits sex and controversy sells.

As for the da vinci code, I decided to start with its prequel or whatever it was, angels n demons i think it was. it put me to sleep after 20 pages when it was supposed to keep me riveted for the entire book. I guess, I am not a child anymore cheering on the protagonist who has knowledge in every field , frigging everything...I guess, people still love fanasies.

Whats so unrealistic about Goma? There are many women in Nepal who put up with their philandering men. It thats what you say is unrealistic. Its been a while since I read the book, but if its for reasons you say her character is unrealistic (especially if it took 8mo to read!), I'd be interested to hear it.

Maybe it is realistic, maybe it is not. I haven't read the book, so I wouldn't know. What my concern is does every story has to have the gratification of sex or revolve around its periphery? Aren't there more dimensions to human life in context of Nepal? How would I know? I was only borne and raised in KTM, but writers and critics that portray the truth are older and wiser, I guess they would know better rite? Maybe I should have kept my eyes open during those years......I would have found queries to my answers like FREUD :)

I would suggest.."A twist in a tale" But I forgot the writer...It is very nice collection of short stories...I loved it!!!

Do u think there r women like GOMA in Nepali society in Ktm, as per novel she is said to be brougt up in good family of Ktm not in countryside and how can one woman welcomes with open arms to 'so called' greatest enemy SAUTA that too by persusding husband (though Ramchandra and Malati were not married)

Samrat says he tries to reflect Nepali society in his novel but do u think it is real Nepali society? Might be one in a thousand or a millioin......


But I liked his first book Arresting God...... such a great book...

I am sorry to inform you that lolita and reading lolita in Tehran are two entirely different books.
Lolita was written by Vladimir Nabokov and is a classic .If you want to know what a classic is ,read that book and none else.

"Lolita" is written by Vladimir Nabokov. "Reading Lolita in Tehran" has an analogy of Iran being raped by the revolution, hence the reference to "Lolita". You don't have to read "lolita" to understand the latter. It's just an analogy.

I am sorry to say i do feel a (small ) trickle of sympathy for Humbert Humbert at times

The art of Humbert's narration is that he reels in the reader ias an unsuspecting voyeur and therefore a partner in the crime. The fact remains, Lolita was a minor and defenceless.
