wtf, i just came back from visiting Nepal and most ppl in Nepal think that we all work in gastations here or drive cabs for around 18 hrs a day. not bragging here but after few years of schooling most ppl i know work around 8 hrs a day and only 5 days a week, unlike most Nepali corporations' employees who are forced to work 6 days a week and are kept extra time at work without extra pays. i think it's because of some cry babies who always complain. if they think their life would be such better in Nepal and they are slaves here then by all means they should just go back. no body is stopping or forcing anyone to stay in the USA. enough of complaining, this country is made of hard work and brain. if you are not cut for that then go to Nepal. the only difference is  to make what you can save here legally and honestly , you hav eto do all kinds of  immoral things like bribery to accumulate in Nepal. i would personally life hard working honest life. i think the DV has made American dream so easy for Nepali that they don't even value this great opportunity.

DV has showed real american dream to nepalese.
1% of all nepalese work in desk jobs( out of that 99% in IT)  . Rest 99% cabs, gas station, restaurant etc. That is the truth and truth is harsh.

you should tell them how much struggle you did to get that desk job. it did not happen in a day. did it?
Most of the students do odd jobs before they land real job. Very few come with full scholarship. Even Obamas first job was at ice cream store. So why we all don't tell the truth.

This poem telling the reality.

there is no actual survey taken so far on what percent of Nepalis do desk job vs. what percent do menal jobs in USA.  so if we are randomly throwing numbers out there then i would like to say at least 25% of the Nepali population have professional jobs given the fact that everyday around 30-50 students apply for student visa and most students actually do graduate and are able to find jobs eventually. but again, if their life  style was so  better in Nepal or is goign to be better in Nepal if they returned,  then the door is open, they can return. who's stopping those ppl? Nepali mentality is to complain about everything in their life. they would complain if they were in Nepal and they are complaing here now that they are in the USA. USA is still the most powerful, biggest economy , the most diversed and easy to immgrate country in the world. if they can't make it here and they think their life would be better in Nepal or else where then no body is putting gun in their head to stay here. you're slave of your own high  ambitions, don't blame the USA.

now i can understand, if they are  used to of working like 6 hrs in govt office back in Nepal and were used to of making extra income by bribes, then the hard work isn't their cup of tea and obviously such practices have made them incompetent over the years to compete in real world where bribes and slacking off at work won't cut in.

and as far as working in gasstations and cabbies go, they ware still making lot better than what they would be making in Nepal or katar or dubai.if they are legal they would save the expenses of educating their children and the list goes on with other opportunites.

why you are angry with nepali mentality when you have one too and your parents and all relatives have one too?
Most people who come to america from Nepal are so called Rich people of Nepal with hakim sab ko children or hakim sab themselves.
Go and mingle with rich people of america, they have the same mentality too like Romney. crush the poor and middle class.
America is rich not because what you see with your naked eyes. Do you know what really happens inside America?
They sell Arms and guns ammunition to the world who support them and crush them who don't. That is how the american economy is thriving by selling arms.  ya the biggest economy with trillions of dollar debt.

In america, you get a degree and start job hunting and no luck, you go do labor job to be in status. You don't blame Obama. And in nepal you get degree and job hunting and no luck you curse the netas. you don't go to do labor job.

Let me tell you my story:

1. I came to USA as a student in Spring 1998 (January 1998) for Masters program in Computer Science
2. While at college, I did pizza delivary and worked as motel front desk clark. I also had intership in a printer company in the city where I was studying
3. I completed my masters in Fall 2001.
4. Then I got a professional job as a Software Engineer.
5. I had some ups and downs while in job. i.e. lay off, few months gap between jobs.
6. I had to transfer my H1B couple of times to stay in status. In some instances I transfered my H1B to Dhoti companies too. I did not work for Dhoti companies for no longer than 4 months.
7. I finally got a stable job and got Green card from an International company based on Washington DC Metro area. It was in Jan 2007
8. I was in EB2 with Masters degree. Hence, I got GC in 5 months. It was in mid 2006.
9. Now I am a US citizen. I got citizenship about a year ago.
10. Now I have the Secret Clearance. I work for Defence (Pentagon) project which deals with classified information.
11. I never missed tax filing even during my school days.

So,
Did I do any bad here?
Did I become "आधुनिक दास"?
Did I deceive anybody?

Darthmouth  College , Prinction  ( they followed the same thing)" आदि लाइ हेरौ |

There are lots of gas station and restaurant Nepali workers in the USA but not all of us work in gas station and restaurants. there are actually lots of happy professional and business owners but i guess they are not as loud as the others of us who like complain all the time.
however, the point is not what kind of job you have , but whether you are pride on doing that job or not. say, you're working in a gas station 18 hrs. but you're earning around 3000 a month and either saving the money or investing in school. you should take pride on your hard work , not go around crying about it.yes it definitely sucks to work so many hours but again you're spending that money on US college which is a big thing for even US citizens and majority of them can't afford. or you're saving that hard earned money for rainy days or buying properties back in Nepal. which was not possible in Nepal. so be proud, be happy that you're being productive for yourself.
Slaves were forced to work. they had no choice. you have a choice. you can always quite your job. if status is going to be problem you can always go home where you already are a citizen. plus you have human and other civil rights even when you're not working legally.
