I need to renew my passport here in US. Any experience about processing time. I do not know how much present crisis in Nepal can affect to daily activities of our embassy. I am planning to travel outside US next month. Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated.

It used to take only a week if you hand delivered the application to the Nepali consulate in NY, and went in person to pick it up. I don't know now.

Mine took 2 weeks....Have u tried callin' nepal embassy in DC. You might get lucky to speak to someone there if s/he is not falling in sleep at work.

I strongly suggest you to send your passport to NY, not DC. I have heard too many complains about DC embassy. I had renewed my passport in December; I sent the application with old passport in overnight mail. They processed it on the second day and mailed back to me on the same day. Just call them and tell them it is very important.
