Hello Friends,
My Roommate went to Nepal for a month vacation and she had to do H1-B stamping in kathmandu. Consular gave her a slip saying they have to perform some processing and it may take few weeks. She's worried now and only has few days left for her vacation. She's seeking some advice from people here who have gone through same. What steps does she need to take at this time ? Anything that can make the processing faster ?

Thanks for all your help.

I guess she was handed over 221g form which is also called as document for adminstrative processing. I am not scaring you but it generally takes about 1 week to 1 year to clear. You can check old sajha thread regarding this topic. That will help. You can also check trackitt.com.

She cannot do anything to process it faster. Usually they check back over here in US about her status and previous adjustments or anything and that takes time. All she can do is hope for the best. It may take couple of week for best case or months for worst case. Just 4 months back, one of my friend got his visa 2 months after they said they need further processing.

It's better for her to contact her employer telling them the delayed visa processing and to keep her job active.

It been more than a week, i applied for a visa stamping havent heard anything back from them yet. They didnt give me any slip and also they didnt ask for any doucments at the time of interview.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Racheeta,

Do you have any updates on your friend's case? I am still waiting for it. It's been almost two weeks now.

This waiting is frustating. Same things happened to me. It was on 2009 when I applied for stamping H1 B visa in US embassy, kathmandu. VO asked additional docs with Blue paper. I was working for Indian consultancey. They took time 1 and half month for sending those docs. It was lot of documents. And I submitted those docs to US Embassy. They approved it after a month. so it was 2.5 months waiting. So I think if you have all documents your visa will get approved\stamped. only thing it is time consuming. so while you are in Nepal enjoy that time with frens n family. I wish you all the best.
